Well-prepared Asian dishes are reasonably priced, too - The Columbus Dispatch, By Jon Christensen, 16 October 2003; Every neighborhood seems to have a run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant. Such establishments survive on two qualities: convenience and price. But sometimes, something more — a particular dish or a special menu — makes diners wonder how such unpretentious restaurants do what they do at the price. Dragon Land Chinese Restaurant is like that. One panel of the menu is devoted to Thai, Malaysian and Singaporean dishes that chef-owner Eddie Tran — an ethnic Chinese born in Vietnam — picked up during his career. His vegetable soup ($1.25) is amazingly full of vegetables, especially considering its low price. Lots of Oriental vegetables (Chinese celery, snow peas, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots) join western ones such as green peas, broccoli and celery in a light, clear broth. And Tran makes his own egg rolls — unusual in Chinese restaurants of this price range. The results justify the work: Dragon Land’s egg roll ($1) is nicely packed with slivered vegetables. Its flavor is primarily vegetables and finely minced chicken. The taste is fresh, not heavy or oily. - suggest change
