Best restaurant in Oklahoma! I initially went to Othello's in 1999, and was impressed by the quality and taste of the food... it was the best I'd ever had. Since then, I've eaten at other Italian restaurants, but NONE have come close to the quality that Othello's offers... if you haven't tried them yet, then the next time you're in Norman, do so. And if you're just flying through OKC, make the trek to Norman-- it's well worth it. [09 Oct 2001 21:19:57]

Are you kidding???? I don't understand why the other reviewers are so excited about Othello's. Have they never eaten in an Italian restaurant before? Othello's food is mediocre, the tortellini is often undercooked (and I like al dente) and the marsala sauce is way too buttery, even for marsala. The atmosphere is the best part, has an old world vibe, and the service can be good, although I find that it is usually a little slow and that the waitresses are always looking out for their bottom line. I am generally turned off a place if the wait staff seem more concerned with upselling than making my dining experience enjoyable. I waited tables for 12 years and have a lot of respect for the profession, so I know a lot of the tricks and I really don't like when they're pulled on me. Othello's is also not a good place to bring a small child. They don't have crackers (although they serve soup and salads!) and they seem reluctant to bring out bread before your meal, forcing you to order an appetizer if you have a child that needs to eat right away. When I waited tables, I never let a family with small children go without something to eat on their table for very long. Anyway, I'm a Normanite and I've eaten at Othello's many times, but really I think I've had it and will never go back (unless they seriously overhaul). Norman has grown a lot in the last 10 years and there are a lot of chain restaurants like Johnny Carino's. I think they destroy some of the character of the town, but at least you know what to expect with the service. It's a shame that independent places can't give the same kind of service. I hate to even think of going to a chain over a mom and pop operation, but I hate to think of my toddler screaming for crackers and ruining everyone's dining experience even more. There is one waitress that is pretty good, short blond hair and she's been there forever. [18 Nov 2005 21:57:00]

Check out Othello's West now Othello's West opened in January 2006 on the west side of I-35. It's situated between two Italian chain restaurants and the location couldn't be better. For diners who would normally opt for the common fare, try Othello's once. You'll get Italian menu selections you've never seen before and prepare with more fresh ingredients and flavor than anything a chain can make. It's local, it's superb and a Norman landmark. Yea! Could possibly be the best restaraunt I've ever been to! I just moved to OK from Phoenix which is known for it's upscale restauants, but I must say, upon ariving at Othello's in Bricktown, I was instantly impressed with the restaraunt; the dim, romantic lighting, and the selection of jazz music playing. We were quickly greeted by our waiter, Robert, who was very helpful in recommending appetizers, as well as dishes and what wines would be good to try. We ordered a sampler appetizer with bacon cheese french fries (for my husband), artichoke and spinach dip (for me), and our new favorite, the mozzerella cubes with marinara suace which are absolutely amazing! My husband ordered chicken parmesean and I, the spaghetti and though both dishes are typical, they were also to die for! Our waiter was very curteous and on top of things and I was very impressed by he and the chef who came to our table to see how the food was, and also greeted us as we left the restaraunt to see how everything turned out. The prices were decent, the food was delicious, and the experience was unexpected and unforgettable. I Can't wait to return! [14 Dec 2006 16:38:00]

STUFFED MUSHROOMS I went to Othello's for the first time because I kept hearing their commercial on the Sports Animal. Al Eshbach rambling about how good it was. For some strange reason I ordered the Stuffed Mushrooms(I don't even like mushrooms)THEY ARE AWEsome. I go back often just for the stuffed mushrooms. [17 May 2007 17:07:14]

My family and I recently ate at Othello's at Bricktown in Okalahoma City-My husband and my son both got the ribeye-they were both so tough they could not even chew it! As a matter of fact when my husband tried to cut his it was so tough that it fell outof his plate and onto the ground. My husband isn't a complainer so he did pay the 23.00 for each one but we left hungry. We won't be eating there anymore that is for sure!!!!! [05 Jun 2007 10:18:47]
