A Gourmand's Delight
Everything about The Coach House is extra-ordinary, the food, the service, the ambiance. I had lunch there today with a friend and we were crushed and disappointed to find that the pate had been eliminated from the menu. When we expressed our dismay to our drink/hors dóeurve waiter, he asked in the kitchen if we could be accommodated and Voila! Just like that, we again had the very best pate I have ever tasted. The rest of our meal was just as wonderful and the service was, as alway, inpeccable.

Thank you Coach House for being here    [05 May 2003 18:33:52]

OVER-RATED
My husband and I dined there and the service was horrible. They cared more about giving you new forks than they did about filling your empty glasses or giving you bread, or a menu, or even taking your order. The food was too salty, too oily & the desserts too sweet & unimpressive. We had the ceviche for appetizers (too smelly & uninteresting), the warm quail salad (too soggy & too much dressing), the halibut (too oily) with whipped potatoes (way too salty), the duck breast (which was decent but came with those godawful whipped potatoes), the warm chocolate cake (too sweet & the side of cream was dull), and the strawberry-rhubarb strudel (which was decent) but the black pepper ice cream didn't have a bit of black pepper at all, and no flavor other than cream. You have to order the deserts when you order your meal because they are made on site (supposedly), so I ordered an espresso with my dessert. The espresso never came (no big surprise), but by then I couldn't have cared less. The prices were like 20% more than The Metro (which has NEVER failed me) and like I said, the wait staff was either all new to waiting or just horrible    [16 Jun 2006 10:59:05]
