Worth trying on a special occasion
This is known as one of the fanciest restaurants in Corvallis. It looks like a dive from the outside, but I'd advise you to look past that. The inside is much more formal. The food is very good, but in my opinion could still be better, considering it is one of the places that people go for special occasions. Worth going to at least once.    [31 Jul 2002 19:09:18]

A Corvallis Institution
I have been going to the Gables since a student at OSU in the early 70's. I always stop at the Gables 2 to 3 times a year on visits back to campus. I have never been disappointed. The BEST restaurant in Corvallis, bar none.    [19 Oct 2004 18:09:16]

usually exceptional
although I have had the occasional clunker of a steak... I'm not sure why proper seasoning of a steak should be difficult. More is NOT better!

The rack of lamb has never disapppointed. Nor have the exceptional sides of chicken bisque, salad and warm sourdough. Seafood tends to be above average. The prime rib is outstanding!
Only caveat... those pesky steaks can be a bit vaiable in quality!    [15 Jun 2006 13:38:40]
