It's the best steak in Oregon
If you've never been to Haines, don't blink, as the town is a dinky flashing yellow light on a back road from La Grande to Baker. But in this tiny town is the best corn fed beef steak I've found. The portions are generous, and the taste is tremendous. The salad bar is sparse, but just to the side of that are the best smoked beans I've ever had. Couldn't Agree More, it is the Best Steak House in the Northwest.
Haines Oregon is located in one of the most beautiful areas in the country. Nesseled between the Wallowa and Blue mountains the Steak House is on the "Old Oregon Trail".

I don't think I have ever had a steak quite this good. It even beats a Ruth Crist steak. I look forward to stopping every time I'm in the area.    [03 Mar 2005 16:29:08]

Best in the West
Great food - period! The salad bar isn't a grand affair but hey, did you really come to eat salad! Best BBQ baked beans I ever had. Haines is a neat piece of old western culture. A short drive from Baker City - my favorite western town. You can't wrong eating at the Haines Steak House - careful on your day of the week to eat there though, I believe they're closed on Tuesdays?    [14 Apr 2005 13:47:20]

Fantastic Prime Rib
Wednesday nite is prime rib nite. You'll compare all other prime rib to this one. Generous cuts; all lean prime rib - just enough fat for flavor. Never found any better. Cowboy bread is great but they have changed their recipie for the beans. No longer as good as they once were. Be sure to save room for homade cobbler and ice cream.    [22 Jan 2006 02:26:42]
