Always A Local Fave/Has Been For Years The place may be revered somewhat as a greasy spoon, but it's actually a great little reliable hometown cafeteria with an adjoining juice bar in the back; run by totally sociable folks. The restaurant side used to be 24/7, and probably is most famous for inexpensive country biscuits and gravy, a great cuppa joe, and burgers-in-a-basket.
The bar is only about as big as the living room and kitchen of a single-wide mobile home, and can only accomodate maybe 22-24 folks between the barstools and the four tables, but is cozy without the glare and noise of the taverns and bars in town. Sometimes local mainly acoustic musicians play there, like Sons of Guns, Avery Hook, and the spin off's of the Drop In Papayas band.
The place is not an uppity establishment full of snobs, and isn't a dress-up kind of joint. It is however, a great hangout with a good variety of established clientele of all walks of life. [16 Mar 2006 15:52:54]
