Great view, so-so food
The Sea Shack replaced the popular Heron Rock, but I can't say that was an improvement. The bar, previously open, was enclosed, but the cigarette smoke permeates the restaurant. If you are going to dine here, do so in nice weather and eat outside on the deck. The heat source is inefficient, and it is often chilly in the dining room in winter - unless you sit on the end by the wall heater, in which case, you'll roast. The food and service is so-so, inconsistent and nothing to write home about. I miss the personal touch of prior owners Jan & Bill who would visit with you, make sure everything was in order and make you feel like you were visiting them in their home. The fun events (holiday parties), games and contests in the bar aren't there any more either - nor is the outdoor Mexican furnace on the deck so you can dine there in winter (and occasionally have delicious BBQ oysters when Michael was around). The gorgeous landscaping (sweet peas climbing the side of the building, rare plants in the front) has disappeared also. Overall, a disappointment.    [06 Nov 2005 09:53:15]
