The place for ladies who lunch Zakes' salads, sandwiches and soups are all outstanding, but save room for dessert! Many delicious specials to choose from, in addition to a great menu. The only problem here is making a decision. Be prepared to wait for a table around lunchtime, it's a "cozy" place. [15 Jun 2002 23:14:01]

Great Find This is one of the best kept secrets. Food (BR & Lunch) is always great. The desserts are always delicious, especially the coconut cake. It's the best. Great homeade soups. It's not just for ladies who lunch, quite a few men go. The people who work there are friendly and remember everyone who comes in!! [07 Feb 2004 17:22:22]

Tasty! Tasty! The food was awesome! Everything was made at the site so it tasted very fresh: breads, dressings, desserts, etc. Got to try!!! [15 Jul 2004 14:17:40]

Dinner was Delicious Zakes is now open for dinner, and we just went last weekend. The menu is a little different from the lunch menu, but features some of the favorites from lunch too. Roasted chicken with lemongrass and eggplant with ginger were both delicious. Its BYOB. Candles and new decor look great! [15 Apr 2005 10:02:05]

Great since you step in One warning the bread is so good you fill up on it and have no room for your meal. This is a great place with awesome dessert. [30 Aug 2006 17:04:18]

Great dinner I went to Zakes on Saturday night last week, wow it was so busy, I had to wait for 12 minutes but it was cool, service was great, the young guy who seated us, very thoughtful and nice. We have a nice glass of red wine as a complimentary. Food is worth to wait. [05 Feb 2007 18:01:56]

My All Time Favorite for Lunch As a Fort Washington resident I have been going to Zakes since its' opening. The food is consistently good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. To avoid the crowds go around 11:30 or after 1:30 for lunch. It is hard to say what I like best because nothing I have tried was ever less than outstanding. [11 Feb 2007 13:53:59]

Now open for dinner. American food with Asian accents. This information shows up in some of the comments. I am not an employee, just a satisfied customer. Prices are reasonable, food is great, and this is BYOB. Some of the tables near the door can be chilly, and the lights often flicker in the evening, but I like the funky (though white table clothed) atmosphere, reminiscent of the Philadelphia "restaurant renaissance" of 30 years ago.
