Pho Pasteur worth the 2 hour commute In my hometown there are no Vietnamese restaurants but the few places who offer "spring rolls" offer a deep fried phony cousin of an egg roll. Pho Pasteur has authentic spring rolls wrapped in rice paper served cold with a delightful peanut sauce for dipping. I will return for the numerous soups but I had the pork over rice and it was delicious, just enough spices but not overpowered. They serve an iced sweet coffee that you kind of make yourself at your table which is fun and a great finish for your meal. Waitress was friendly and helpful for newbees. All for about $15 a person! It was worth the commute on I81 in a Geo Metro 3-banger. I'll be returning although I'm considering renting a Crown Vic to do it. []

my favorite restaurant The food at this restaurant is amazing. If you have never eaten Vietnamese food before, you will be surprised since it is absolutely nothing like what is normally served in "Chinese" restaurants. Service is always very good when I go (lunchtime) and extremely fast. I am also impressed with their low prices for the vast quantities of food, and they always allow me to make substitutions. Atmosphere is nice and peaceful, but not elegant. [26 Dec 2005 12:29:28]

Pho Pasteur worth the 2 minute commute As a resettlement center following the Vietnam war, the Harrisburg area is host to a significant Vietnamese population, but restaurants have been slower to develop. Now there are several in the area but I think this is the best. Great food, extensive menu, and I live a few blocks away! So, I don't even have to drive my '99 Metro!
Fire Pot cooking is done at the table and there are a few varieties. "Small" is plenty for two people. [03 Mar 2006 15:01:51]
