BEST VALUE IN A LONG TIME
There on Sat night 2-21-04 had the grilled portabella mushroom for an app which was very good. My husband had a shrimp cocktail which he said was cooked just right. We order a bottle from their wine list MacMurry pinot noir $26.00 I think. I had the crab cakes which I LOVED,my husband had the Johnny Apples steak sizzler, which he loved, and the best part the dessert menu was fantastic. I will be back soon    [24 Feb 2004 16:02:52]

Birthday Dinner
We set out to Johnny Apples for a birthday dinner. We arrived and were seated near the fireplace. We ordered the crab in a puff pastry which came out barley warm and dry. I ordered the scallops in a brandy cream sauce, again this can out luke warm and my vegetables were cold. My daughter ordered the filet which again was serverd warm, although tasty her garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables were cold to touch. Her friend ordered the chicken parm. which came out piping hot and was very good. She could not finish her dish and requested to have it wrapped. The waitress discarded the dish forgetting our request. We ordered a bottle of red wine. This came to the table ice cold. Although after waiting almost an hour for it to warm up, it was a nice bottle of wine. The ambiance was nice although in general the restaurant was cold (and we sat next to the fireplace). Overall it was a disaster and I would not recommend having dinner here. We were dissapointed.    [23 Mar 2004 10:43:36]

regular stop
Food is much better since Pat is doing a lot of the cooking. Wait staff is always friendly and attentive. Good atmosphere.    [18 Apr 2006 17:34:14]

Anniversary Dinner
This was one of the most enjoyable meals I have had in a long time. The food was excellent, the service was wonderful and it is one of the few places in the area that actually knows the correct wine glass to serve red and white wine. Bravo...it does make a difference. The Portabello Mushroom appetizer was one of the best I have ever eaten. Our leftovers were taken home and eaten again. I highly recommend this restaurant. funny thing...it was a second choice for us to stop there that evening. We had picked another place but they had closed due to few customers and we happened past here and it was the best thing that could have happened.    [07 Sep 2006 16:21:01]

What a GREAT NITE
My wife's friends brought us there for a birthday dinner they go there often we live a little far but it was worth the trip even if we had to walk. It was a Saturday nite we entered to a very warm welcome who we found out later was one of the owner's Mary when we sat down our server Michelle could not of been nicer. The food was OUT OF THIS WORLD our friend told us the chef Pat was one of the other owner's I asked how many their were and was told it was a family place. Pat came out after we ate could not of been a nicer person I could not put into words to him how much we enjoyed our food. When we got up from the table we decided to go to the bar for an after diner drink on our way we run into the other brother John cut from the same cloth as Pat a great guy we sit down to have our drink with Sue the bartender she tells us that Mike the other bartender working with her is the other owner he was such a GOOD GUY his daughter Ashley was the bus girl. Mike & Sue were GREAT toghter. Then a D J came on playing amazing music which we found out was Sue husband Bill. Before we knew it it was 2:10 in the morning. The BEST NIGHT WE HAD IN YEARS. CAN NOT WAIT TO GO BACK. Talk about chains they should take a page out of this Restaurant book. What a great place    [25 Sep 2006 00:51:29]

We enjoyed the food offered at the Sunday
brunch buffet. However, attentive servers
were not in attendence. We will return,
hopefully the kinks of opening day will be
worked out.    [08 Oct 2006 12:37:04]

Chipped TEETH - No Extra Charge!
I was at Johnny Apples for Easter brunch at 1:30 pm with my friends on 4-8-07. I bit down on a piece of sausage and there was a big piece of bone in it or something hard that broke off the side of my back left molar. I notified the waitress immediately who apologized and informed the manager. After quite a few minutes, the manager subsequently came to our table and stated that this is a common occurrence with sausage and that he would give me the name of the sausage company to complain to. (I have been eating sausage all of my life and have never had this happen). I stated that I did not want the name of the sausage company. I stated that I was complaining to him since his restaurant served me the sausage. I stated that usually the restaurant claims responsibility in such cases and he replied that they have insurance and I could do “whatever”. He was very curt and rude.

No apologies were given to me by the manager nor was any part of our meal not charged. Additionally, an unexpected 18% gratuity was included with our bill. We were not made aware of this in advance. My friends and I were shocked as usually this amount is not charged automatically unless it is for a large party being waited on. Our party consisted of three adults, one teenager and a child. Additionally we were barely waited on (just our drinks) as the brunch we paid for was a buffet type meal where we served ourselves.

I didn't eat much after this incident but my friends ate most of the entrees offered in the buffet. They stated that most of the food was cold, dry and not good at all.

I understand accidents such as this can happen but the rudeness of the manager was definitely unexpected and uncalled for. This pretty much ruined our Easter brunch.

We will never, ever go there again!    [09 Apr 2007 16:01:08]

Christening Party -- Poor Service
We recently held our daughter's Christening Party at Johnny Apples and we were not satisfied with the service we received.
We were told the room would be set up as 8 tables of 8 and when we arrived the room was not set up in this manner and we had several families of 4 at tables for 2. There was no water or bread on the tables when guests arrived (this took 45 minutes). The waitresses did not take dinner orders until 1hr & 15 minutes into the party and did so only because we asked them to start. We had to ask them to replenish the beer/wine table and the wine glasses were never replenished. When the waitresses did take orders, they were asking guests if they wanted a pasta dish which we had already ordered as part of the meal. The food was good, however it took over 2 hours before it was served (including the children's food, which we asked to be served first). We were told we could use the upstairs for entertainment, but when we went upstairs the floor was not even vacuumed. The head waitress and evening manager were rude when we had questions about our bill(they were overcharging us by $150).
We resolved everything with the daytime manager who was very pleasant and apologized for the error on the bill.
We will never have another party here, since they don't seem capable of handling a party of this size.    [23 May 2007 10:33:44]
