Description
Fig Café serves hot food, cold salads, and platters. The Mid-East Feast (serves two) includes stuffed grape leaves, hummus, baba ghannoug, Egyptian eggplant, tahina dip, Arabic salad (cucumber/tomato/onion) and pita. The menu has one non vegetarian item, which is baked ziti with a layer of meat sauce. They also serve fruit smoothies, sodas, fruit juices, and teas. They also offer both Middle Eastern and American style desserts.
A large section of the menu is dedicated to the fruit-flavored tobaccos available for smoking using a hookah. A pool table sits in the center of the non-smoking room, while the smoking section has two tables and several large couch groupings. Food is served on paper plates with plastic forks, and the smoothies come in disposable plastic cups.

Unusual Layout and Decor; Food Tasty but Limited Fig is not really a restaurant, as the menu is small, there are more couches than dining tables, and a pool table takes center stage in the non-smoking section. It's not clear whether they are trying to be a restaurant, hookah smokers' lounge, or pool hangout. There is no bar. However, they seemed to have an interesting selection of non-alcoholic beverages, and my salad platter was satisfying and flavorful. [28 Jul 2006 22:10:24]

Good Times I went here last night and had a blast. The atmosphere is relaxing and lends itself to your making friends with your neighbor. There was a belly dancer for entertainment. The choice of tobacco was decent and the hookah experience was unique. I didn't try any of the food. If you want a unique evening, enjoy smoking, and aren't looking to eat a big meal, this is the place. [19 Aug 2006 22:37:34]

Great Friday Night Relaxation This is a Hookah Bar/Cafe with great food and relaxed atmosphere. Don't be fooled by the exterior, inside is one of those unique finds as far as places to socialize and unwind. There was even bellydancing on the night we went. Will definitely visit again! Friday Nights Friday nights at the Fig are great. Since opening they have updated their menu and added more foods(hot & cold), while still trying to maintain the prices. They have also added seating to the non-smoking section.
The belly dancers are fantastic. They are extremely talented and respectful in the art of the dance. And they bring so much to the nights experience. [21 Oct 2006 15:23:55]

Traditional Egyptian Coffee House What a surprise! With the exception of the pool table I found a traditional Egyptian Coffee House by mistake. I thought I was going to a restaurant but found a uniquely enjoyable place to hang out and smoke shisha. I love the couches, it's much more comfortable than traditional tables and chairs in most restaurants and it not overcrowded as in most businesses. The high ceiling and fan move the smoke up out of the room so you're not struggling to see your friend through the thick clouds of smoke. It was really great! Also, they must have changed their menu because they now have a few hot dishes. [24 Oct 2006 14:44:29]

Definitely Going Back - Probably a Lot My friend and I went here for the first time on Friday, 10/27/06. The Fig Café is perfect for people who want to relax and smoke. There were booths near the pool table and board games/books, as well as in the next section where there were also huge couches. The place is pretty big! It was chilly too, actually, so bring your coat.
As far as the food goes, if you're really hungry the menu might not satisfy, but the mostly snacky-type, Mediterranean foods they serve are very good and extremely well-priced. My falafel sandwich was very tasty and warm. Also, picking different shisha flavors was fun and was definitely different than smoking cigarettes.
Don't forget that a 15% gratuity is added to your bill automatically, which our waitress didn't tell us before she left - but someone else did, later, and showed us it was on the menu. There are different things going on on different nights. The belly dancer on our night (Friday) was exciting, and after a sports game there was a homemade music video mix tape playing on the TVs, which I found really endearing (to match the homemade food). The owner and waiter were incredibly nice people. Unique place. [01 Nov 2006 18:40:20]

We Came, We Ate, We Smoked, and We'll Be Back Fig Café is one of the most interesting places we have been to. From the moment we entered, we were amazed of the display window they have at the entrance, a lot of so many different things, then a nice wide room with couple of little couches on one side and tables on the other side with warm European lights and decor.
We were greeted by the smiley-faced owner who led us through an arch into the smoking section of the place. Then we were shocked how big the place is - huge couches and high ceiling. We sat on a gray leather couch and we looked through the menu; very different and real vegetarian. We had Middle East feast and feta cheese. Food was delicious.
Then we enjoyed a great jazz band while we were smoking mango flavored tobacco and enjoyed their 100% fruit smoothie. It was a great time that we will look forward to go back again, thanks to the Fig that gave us this chance to spent 3 hours which was joy and fun and very reasonable prices. [10 Nov 2006 01:57:47]

I enjoy the Fig Cafe very much and go there often. The atmosphere is fun and cozy as there is always a great group of people there. The food is delicious and the drinks are to die for. Also, the servers are very friendly and are always very quick with orders. This is a great place for a date or just to hang out with friends. I think it's a gem in the middle of Jenkintown.
