Watch Out for the On August 12th, my girlfried and I attended The American Bandstand Grille in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. We have been there a few times before this day, and we had a wonderful dinner. On this afternoon we decided to go there for lunch. We received our food and it was very good. My girlfriend had pointed out a fly on the wall that is expected in a restaurant atmosphere. As I was looking for the fly on the wall I noticed a black mark close to it on the wood paneling. As I moved closer to look at it I noticed antennas on the object. As I moved closer I saw that it was the head of a roach. I told my girlfriend and she completely lost her appetite, as did I. My girlfriend went to get the manager and he came to our table. My girlfiend pointed to where to roach was and he sat in our booth to get a better look. He then hit the wood paneling and the head of the roach went inside of the wood. After a few minutes of sitting in our booth, and our food getting cold, the manager gave us a story about what he called "Paper Roaches". He then told us that when a company gets paper supplies from a warehouse, these paper roaches can be expected depending upon how dirty the warehouse is. The story was believable, and he assured us that the roach was harmless and was not a roach attracted by food. Later when we got home we did some research and we discovered that there is no such thing as A "Paper Roach". However, there is what is known as the American Roach or Woodroach. The Woodroach lives in dark, damp, areas and are fairly small which enables them to manuever in and out of small wood cracks like the wood paneling. The wood roach is also drawn to food. In conclusion the manager told us a false story, and apologized once and left. We paid full price for our meal and the manager didn't even notify other employees of what we had noticed. We are extremly disgusted with our discovery and with the manager's false statements and handling of the situation. We certainly will not return. [13 Aug 2001 00:10:09]

Main Line Magazine Picks Dick Clark's Bandstand Grille as #1 Family Restaurant for 2001 Food and service were excellent when I went to dinner. Portions were huge (you usually need to take some of your meal home) and the waiters were helpful, courteous and friendly. There is a distinctive theme and style to the restaurant, that being rock and roll memorabilia (just look at the man's name on the marquee and it should be self-evident. At the tables, while you are waiting, there are many rock and roll articles from Mr. Clark's personal collection. It is fun reading these articles and it's something the whole family can do together. Most enjoyable are the videos from days past of the TV show "American Bandstand". This, again, is something parents and children can view together. I would highly recommend this restaurant to a friend, as obviously, the magazine does. One more thing, this restaurant is a excellent place to go for special occasions (birthdays, office parties, etc.) A visit to this restaurant is a must for those who have families, or are just visiting the area, or who just want to have a good meal in a friendly atmosphere. As American as Apple Pie... The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame may be in Cleveland, but Philadelphia rules! The eternally youthful Clark (he really is alive and well) may just turn up to greet you at this theme restaurant. It could be a good respite from shopping, or if you still have the energy you can dance to some of the old tunes. DJ Scuba Steve really gets the place jumping, mixing hits from yesteryear with today's Top 40. The food, burgers and such, is second place to the time-capsule quality artifacts that pack the place. The TV shows clips from years of Bandstand-maybe you were one of those stellar couples. And, if you're in the nightclub during the dancing hours, you may look up at the screens and see yourself. Best lunch ever... I have family in Manayunk and I've always enjoyed the area. I went out to lunch with my aunt and uncle and we decided to stop at Dick Clark's American Bandstand Grille in King of Prussia. The food was excellent, but my favorite thing about the restaurant had to be the memorabilia. they had clothing from elvis in cases and stuff all over the walls. There were even newspaper clippings and pictures and other such things under the top of the table, never once did we run out of topics to talk about. I would have to say that I had never had so much fun having luch with family before then. [19 Nov 2002 13:47:01]

Hey, Where's the So-Called Music Mix? We were delighted, then disappointed with the Studio B club at American Bandstand. We arrived early..and enjoyed a great dance mix of 80's, 90's music and even some 50's music...then all of sudden it changed to Techno type stuff...all the people between 35 and 45 stopped dancing and left (including us). We kept waiting for some of "our age" kind of dance music and after an hour left. They advertise a musical mix, but didn't come through on their promise. I think Dick Clark would be disappointed in his bandstand. [01 Mar 2003 10:01:27]
