The Frazer Diner - old, authentic & amazing Ever seen the classic movie The Blob? You know, that one with the line "Run, dont walk..." Well if you have you have at least seen The Frazer Diner. It was built in 1935 and was originally called The Paoli Diner. In 1957 the diner was relocated to its current location on Route 30 in Frazer, a small south eastern Pennsylvania town. If you want real authentic diner food around here, ask any of us locals. We will tell you that Minella's Mainline Diner (recently renovated, no smoking, open 24/7 and has a shiny you permit to sell alcohol) is not a diner, its definately a full-blown restaurant. A diner is home-y, the people are friendly and the food has that home cooked goodness. Their coffee comes in two flavors: regular and decaf. No fancy Super-Caramel-Mocha-Choca-Latte-Frapuchino-Capuchino here. I have visited the Frazer Diner so often that i can walk in, sit down at one of six tables or at the counter (dont wait to be seated, it's seat yourself), and immediately they will bring me a regular coffee and decaf for my mom. The next question is "You want the regular hunnie?" I would say i have eaten there maybe 3 times a month at the most for the past 7 years. All of the waitresses there must have amazing memories. My favorite 'hungry-girl' dish is coffee, two eggs over-easy, an extra side of toast, and two pancakes. The coffee is free refill, the eggs and toast are just delicious, and the pancakes are the best I've ever had (not to mention they're about the size of your face). Two people with pretty big appetites can eat there for under $15 and leave fully satisfied with that goooooddd full feeling. I love the Frazer Diner so much that when I was taking driving lessons, i took my instructor there. Not once, not twice but three times! He was crazy about it too and now takes his family there every other week. The diner is smoker-friendly, which is good for after a huge meal. Non-smokers- dont worry, its not a solid cloud of smoke inside, and it only adds to the down-home goodness feeling. They are open for breakfast and lunch only and close promptly at 2pm. I joke with the waitresses that they "only close that early so people are desparate to get here," and i won't lie: there have been days when I woke up, looked at the clock and saw it was noon and thought to myself "Oooo! I can still make it to the diner!" There you are, thats the Frazer Diner. In short, go there for the great people, awesome food and the authentic feel of this antique. [10 Dec 2005 10:51:44]
