Brodeur's on State Street Brodeur's is trying to be an upscale restaurant on the quaint and enchanting Main Street of Media. It is situated in a prior bank building. However, our experience last night was very disappointing. Service was slow and indifferent, surprising since the tables were not full, and there were six waiters/waitresses to cover 20-25 tables. Our waitress did give us menus, but did not return for 25 minutes to take our order. Food is standard American, and other than the large portions, indiffrently prepared. We shared a bland onion soup with provolone, and a corn crab soup woefully overseasoned with pepper (and I don't mind spicy food). A bone-in strip steak was correctly broiled to medium-rare, but served with a "merlot" sauce that tasted more like a standard brown mushroom gravy. A stuffed pork chop was only dotted with a pleasant sweet mustard sauce, but plopped on a large pile of cole slaw, which ended up being the major flavor within the chop. We decided to escape with coffee, which happened to be good. Overall, the experience felt like going to a Holiday Inn restaurant with larger servings, at $50 per person. One is left with the uncomfortable sense that they are being taken for an expensive ride. [29 Dec 2006 09:03:10]

Great happy Hour Staff was pleasant, great drink selection and free happy hour food. Last Friday for happy hour we (6 friends) enjoyed drinks and appeitizers on the front patio deck. Our experience was cut shorter than we had liked due to the chill as the sun went down, however we will be returning for dinner in the near future . [06 Apr 2007 00:08:28]

Good but pricey Loved dinner in the cafe. Their salads are superb as is most of the rest of their menu. However, I thought their bruschetta was a little too spicy and I did not understand the music choice (cheesy 80's music?) or why it had to be so cold inside. Outside decks were nice, but smokey.
