Good food, poor service
The food is great - awesome snow crab legs, roast beef sandwiches, soups, and crab cakes. The service is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! Never order takeout from this place - they can NEVER get it right (have ordered 10+ times and still have never gotten it right once!!). Waitresses are extremely rude and untrained. Again, the only reason I go is for the food which is excellent and very reasonably priced. If the service was any bit of ok, this place would be great! It's a shame the staff has to be so rude!    [28 Jan 2005 15:09:56]

Great Pub
My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for 25+ years every Friday night. The food is great and the prices are not high. The early bird specials are numerous and include soup or salad, your entree, plus dessert for $11.95. They just completed a total renovation and it looks great. Do yourself a favor and check it out.    [16 Dec 2005 09:12:35]

new look same great place
The place has been there forever and under same ownership for over 45 years, going on 3rd gen. if i'm correct. The food is consistantly great, the service is good and the new look is awesome! It has been known for the older folks but you can already start to see a younger more lively crowd coming in. All in all a great place to eat, drink with friends or a nice quite dinner with someone special.    [03 Jan 2006 23:33:24]

HORRIBLE BARTENDERS
*Riddle Ale House recently renovated their look, which looks fantastic.

*Though I have to say the (2) female bartenders (one being the owners daughter) were the most catty, arrogant unprofessional, discourteous, crude people in the entire world.
-#1: My friend and I waited at the bar for 15 min. while both of them continued to walk by us and chuckle at one another.
-#2: The one blonde stated: "Ill let
you handle those one's"

*I have never been so appauled by two employees of a company. If you decide to dine at this facility I suggest you prepare for an attitude.    [14 Feb 2006 09:55:57]

A Riddle for a Reason...
Being around for many years, the Riddle must be doing something right. Everything under the Riddle roof is fabulous, ranging frome their complimentary pop-corn, to the famous roast beef sandwich, to their succulent seafood and delicious deserts.
The ambiance in this venue is phenomenal. A low-lit, remodeled Riddle that you must experience for yourself. As far as the service goes, my experience has been very pleasant and enjoyable. There has been new additions in the bartending staff, and some talent as well which keep me coming back. Every Friday night is Kareoke, and there are are a couple of bartenders that can really give a show. It's free entertainment! Also, for those who appreciate good jazz, Tuesday night ist it...great music!    [16 May 2006 15:47:03]

Friday night experience
WE just started hanging out at the Riddle Ale House on Friday nights for karaoke. The food was wonderful and our service was great. The bartenders took a little while to get to you, but it was also very busy. They try their best. Overall this is a terrific place to go to dinner and enjoy the entertainment. I def. recommend this restaurant/bar!    [31 Jul 2006 08:32:33]

Could be a top place.
The food is wonderful, if you get served. On a
Friday night I sat for an hour with out being served! I will bet they lose a lot of money by not taking orders. If you are served, try the snapper soup. It is so good! The bar staff is fine and professional, but over worked. It is the wait staffers that need to open their eyes. IF THE BAR STAFF was not taking orders for drinks from people at their tables, they could be even faster by being allowed to concentrate on their main job of making drinks and only taking orders from those seated at the bar. Let's be fair. Every once in awhile you get a very good waitress, but this is exception to the rule.

Service may be different on nights that are not karaoke, but that's the reason to go in the first place. The DJs do a great job, so if you want to sing and hang out, it would fantastic, if the staff would just pick up the slack! I want this to be great place. They are so close . . . but yet, so far. Some say the wait staff is just rude, but I have not seen that, they just appear to have their minds elsewhere, and not on their customers. An additional big plus, the men's restroom is spotless.    [17 Mar 2007 16:05:52]

Need Lessons in Customer Service
Food is hit or miss depending on what you order. Roast Beef sandwiches and crab legs very good. Convenient location but customer service is horrible. Ordered 2 vodka & tonic and manhattan at bar while waiting for table. Drinks were made and paid for when table became available. Realized tonic was flat when tasted at table. Got replacement drinks and still flat. Told waiter wanted to forget vodka and tonic and change to beer and wine. Waiter came back to say that we would have to pay for the replacement beverages. So, we paid $16 for 3 drinks and only 1 was acceptable. Downgraded from mixed drink to beer and wine and was expected to pay. Left without having dinner and will never return. Spent $16 for a manhattan. Have been a regular for the past 5 months as relative in nursing home accross the street. Hope they use the last $16 I will ever spend there to get some training in customer service    [09 Mar 2009 09:52:34]
