Great Place for a date... Not too fussy, not too casual, Dolce Carini is a great place for either a first date or a special occasion. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the food is, while not dazzlingly original, always well made and served as requested. (The chef knows what rare means!) And next door is Friends, a great bar and our Sunday-night hangout for over a year. [13 Feb 2001 14:34:30]

Cheesesteak Pizza from Heaven Wow!!! If you have never heard of a cheesesteak pizza, then you better go to Dolci's and try one...I know good steaks and pizza. This is the "best" of both worlds...trust me!!!!!! [19 Feb 2003 14:29:04]

Great Food - Best in Newtown! This place is the definition of "best kept secret". The food is always consistently excellent and always served hot. The waitstaff is cordial and attentive. On Friday and Saturday nights there is live piano music that sets a great ambiance. For all the "trendy" places in Newtown, Dolce Carini sets the example for them to follow. [27 Jan 2004 17:10:23]

Don't get the I ordered the "Old Fashioned" pizza from Dolce Carini's take out--it was basically a thin-crust focaccia. On a 16" pizza, there were 5 1.5" slices of the fresh mozzarella. Since this is an established pizzeria, one would expect the real deal--mozzarella slices dotting the entire surface, with fresh basil leaves. It was not only disappointing, but a rip-off, since you pay more and get far less. I used to order from them weekly a few years back; this will definitely be the last. [23 Sep 2005 17:44:55]

Our Favorite Standby An elegant restaurant with the table cloths and piano bar, yet a casual, not stuffy feel. The food is always delicious, special orders are never frowned upon and the service is excellent most of the time. We've eaten there with just two or a crowd and always enjoyed our evening; for more casual, try Friends Bar & Grill next door; also for takeout, Dolce's pizza parlor has the best pizza and sandwiches in Newtown.
