From hoagies to chicken cutlets to hot roast beef and homemade meatballs, this place has it all. All sandwiches are made on fresh crusty bread from Philadelphia. Best Roast Beef hogies.....ever
When we lived in Newtown Square, we had their roast beef hoagies every Friday night. It was our ritual. Now that we moved to Kennett Square, I have not been able to find anything close out here. I miss our little Friday night ritual. Even though I still stop in when I'm anywhere near the deli to pick up sandwiches, I wish they would open a second place out here. I actually saw a store front in a shopping center that said A Cut Above. I was so excited, only to find out it was a hair salon. WHAAAA(*sniff*sniff)

Traveling cross country for an Italian hogie!
My boyfriend, myself, and a few friends I live with in San Diego are from this area originally...and we LOVE THIS sandwich shop in particular! It's worth traveling across the country for! The Bread makes it - the cranks don't
Yes we love A Cut Above Hoagies, the bread from Sarcones is incredibly chewy and is a total counterpoint to the meat. However, they tend to run out of 2 things by the afternoon/evening....the Sarcones Bread and patience ! The guys can be rather Hoagie Nazi-esque...now my friends live in Providence RI ( home to a zillion Italian places for Grinders ) and when they come to NSq they bring them home with them, so that says something, but why do people in the service industry end up so crabby ?? its a hoagie - people, not molecular biology ! Chicken Parm!
A Cut Above has the very best Chicken Parm sandwiches. For a crusty, sesame covered Sarcone's roll, order "regular" size -- which is large. The smaller size is served on a round kaiser roll.    [23 May 2006 10:29:45]
