Great Food in Phoenixville!! We used to live in Center city and just moved to Phoenixville. A friend said to try Black Lab. We did and we really loved it. Food quality is comparable to top notch city BYOB's.It is so convienent also and near the Colonial theatre which shows cool art films. On weekend nights there is a slight wait since they don't take reservations but they provide Wine glasses so it was fine. I would Highly recommend giving it a try!! [01 Apr 2006 00:54:21]

cheers,BYOB Okay, 2 words,crab cakes.
As a rule, I try them everywhere I go. They have got to be the best, no peppers, breading, or anything else, pure crab. My partner had lamb chops, which also was a wonderful treat. We opted to sit at the counter, which would not have been my first choice, but will be from now on. Friendly staff, and customers, a 7-day state store less than a block away, municipal parking, reasonably priced....We have been back several times, guess we have found a new favorite spot. Gnuts for Gnocchi - You Gotta Try 'Em Every dish that I've ordered or sampled from dining companions plates has been consistently delicious! However, I crave the uncomparable goat cheese gnocchis with broccoli rabe. They keep luring me back (especially now that I'm thinking about them). Recent renovations add coziness and comfort to the sophisticatedly casual atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive. The prices are reasonable for the quality. We like that it is BYOB (that way we can spend our $ on the food). [26 Apr 2006 19:21:09]

Double Dating My hubby and I went to Black Lab with new friends on their recommendation. It had been a while since our last visit. What a difference a couple months can make! We had to wait half an hour for a table but the hostess opened one of our bottles of wine and we got a head start on the evening. It gave us time to chat and was actually the best part of the evening UNTIL the first course arrived. We shared duck pot stickers, two different salads (the one with poached pears was to die for), and my husband's fav, calamari. We ended up sampling each other's dinners too, grilled venison chop & striped bass from the specials and chicken risotto and fra diavolo from the menu. It was amazing. I usually don't make plans to dine out unless I know I can get reservations, (why pay a sitter if you don't know if you can eat your dinner, right?), but I definately know we'll be going back soon. What happened? The Black Lab used to be one of my favorites. They changed the menu and (significantly) raised the prices - okay, no longer a weekly treat but it was still my pick for the periodic splurge. But now... What the heck happened to food quality for dinner in the last month or two?? The lobster bisque was my favorite menu item, but now they've changed the recipe or outsourced it or something. It's bland and has an off taste. Service is much slower and the food is just...blah. The creative dishes were what kept me coming back, and now that's gone.
Lunch is still good, but too pricey for a regular stop.
I hate to say it, but I won't be back. Shame, too, the Lab was really kind of a Phoenixville landmark. [22 May 2006 19:24:03]

Won't go back After waiting 1/2 hr after our expected 1 hr wait to have to send two dinners back and not even get an apology or acknowledgement of shortcomings. Surprised even me because we have had two good dinners here in the past. Seating, service, and food..bad all around. Wanted to finally have a reliable local great night out...won't go back.
