I Felt Judged. My friend and I dined here before heading to Mellon arena to see a show. We were greeted by a hostess/waitress that leered at us. She asked us if we had a reservation. We did not. The place, by the way, was close to empty. It was about four in the afteroon. She conceded to seating us and we ended up next to the doors to the kitchen. Yes, the worst seats in the house. The decor was a basic, modern design. The fresh flowers and lit candle on the tables were nice, however, the heat from the candles were wilting the flowers. The menu was very limited. The price wasn't too high for the food offered, however it was not a full course meal. I ordered the grilled bass. I got a fillet of fish over a piece of corn bread. The white wine sauce wasn't too bad. It was not filling. My friend got the gnocci which was much better but the portion was child sized. The waitress did not offer to get us drinks and I felt like we were not welcomed there at all. I had to stop her to order a coke. She never checked on us until it was time to pay, then she was all smiles. I am not a hard person to please, but this place had me so upset that I had to spread the word. On the other hand, if a place blows me away with how awesome it is, I will likely do the same and let the world know about it too. On our way out, a family came into the vacant restaurant and were turned away. The hostess denied them because they did not have a reservation. My friend and I have the suspisions that they were turned away based on how they were dressed. The place was EMPTY. I find it hard to believe that every tabel there was booked and they could not seat this family at ANY empty table there. I will never go back there and will also let everyone know how I feel about it. Thank you. [29 Mar 2009 20:54:53]
