Dining at Casbah
I had the pleasure of dining at Casbah. The staff I must say was very attentive. The tables were dressed elegantly, and the food and choice of wine was superb.    [16 Jun 2003 16:42:43]

A Disappointment
We hosted a dinner for my son and wife in what they thought was the highly rated Casbah. What a disapppointment. The lights were so low we couldn't read the menu; the waitress had to bring a flashlight...maybe they don't want you to see the food? The extensive (expensive) wine list STARTS at about $25 per full bottle, and at that the cheapest white wasn't available. Appetizers were so so. Try four or five scallops on a fancy plate for $10. Calamari was chewy. The lamb stew (at $22) wasn't worthy of a diner at one-fourth the price--meat was stringy, boiled (??) too long, and tasteless. The only dish approaching the value of the price was the bouillabaisse, tasty and well cooked, embellished with an interesing sauce and orderly arrangement at $28. Service was OK, but the next lower category on the ratings requires the food to be rated fine, which it certainly wasn't. Can't blame the wait staff for that. A Shady Side place for yuppies who want to be seen spending lots of money, but never again for us.    [05 Apr 2004 21:36:55]
