Surprise Party at Cutillo's Restaurant on 08/02/2003 I hosted a surprise party at Cutillo's restaurant on Aug. 2, 2003 with approx. 100+ guests. The staff, the waiters, and waitreses did an outstanding job. They met and exceeded what I expected. I highly recomend this restaurant for any and all events. I will be dining and enjoying this restaurant and the atmosphere from here on out.
The food was excellent, and there was a sufficient quantity of food. The timing could not have been better.
Even as I continued to make changes as to the number of guests, Cutillo's was able to meet all my needs, even up until the last minute. The service was outstanding, and they all deserve a standing ovation. They (the servers) inquired of me throughout, as to my needs, and if there was anything else they could do.
I wish to thank the owners John & Paul Cutillo, the executive chef Douglas P., the general manager, Linda H. and the entire staff who made this event one that my wife and I will remember for the rest of our lives. [09 Sep 2003 23:59:22]

Cutillo's is the most impressive restaurant outside of Philidelphia I have taken my family to Cutillo's restaurant on several occasions, and it is definitely worth the trip for all of us. I am always impressed with the service, the atmostphere, and especially the food. Although, I wouldn't consider the restaurant primarily Italian. It is a fine dining restaurant, and Italian food is included in the menu. [22 Apr 2004 15:15:23]

My Mother's Birthday Ruined It is false advertisement to state that Cutillo’s is “Relaxed Dining At It’s Best, Committed To Excellence”. If that were truly the case, my family and I would not have been obliged to wait 15 minutes for someone to acknowledge our presence at our table. Had I not sought someone to serve us, we probably would have waited over 30 minutes. That is unacceptable. Secondly, “Relaxed Dining” implies that children are welcome in such an establishment. If the motto holds true, then John Cutillo would not have been so rude as to interrupt our party and inquire as to how to quiet my niece. It is evident to me by his ignorance, that he does not have children of his own. If the Cutillo's staff were up to par with its service, then perhaps my niece would not have been so irritated with having had to sit in the same place for over an hour.
To say that I am truly disappointed in my dining experience at Cutillo’s would be an understatement. I am a progressive individual and I make it a point to support family-owned businesses. It breaks my heart to see corner stores shut down because a super Wal-Mart opened its doors down the road. After having had to endure what my family and I had to, I now have a better understanding as to why some family-owned businesses do not survive. It is based on their lack of knowledge in how to properly accommodate to customers, whether they are local or out of town.
To add insult to injury, after I addressed my concerns and disappointment with John, he never so much as even hinted to take the initiative to reconcile the issue by offering to provide something “on the house” as a gesture of good faith. I happen to dine out quite frequently and it has been my experience that when a customer complains (for any reason), the restaurant will do it’s best to placate the situation by taking something off the bill or even going as far as to comp the entire meal. Obviously the Cutillo's staff never learned the famous mantra, The Customer is Always Right. [15 Nov 2004 08:27:53]

Owner's Comments: The Customer is always right After more than 30 years of being involved in the family business I finally met the one customer who was wrong. A Mother's birthday was ruined, not because of how they were treated but becuase of her daughter's attitude. We cater to our customers needs because we care about everyone who walks through the door. The woman's niece was crying so loud for so long that we finally had to approach the table because the other 100+ guest in the dining room deserve to eat in a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Also they should be able to enjoy the beautiful, live harp music playing in the backround.
My wife and I have 3 beautiful children. If ever they cried in a restaurant they were immediately carried out until they settled down. Most parents do this, thank God.
I welcome everyone who would like to sit down to a delicious meal, and be catered to, try Cutillo's. You won't be disappointed.
Thank you, sincerely yours, John T. Cutillo P.S. Please forgive my grammer and spelling [09 Jul 2005 22:44:59]

My Mother's Surprise Ladies' Luncheon was a hit! The reception coordinator worked with me in planning the luncheon and addressed my every need during the luncheon. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Most importantly, my mother and guests were thrilled. I was extremely pleased and will keep Cutillo's in mind for any future event that I plan. Ex Worker I must say that I will have to take John Cutillos side on the whole Kid crying incident. This man has been in the resturant business longer then most people have been alive! Paul Cutillo too! I can see Johns point of view that there was 100 people that he had to take care of. When you are in a nice resturant your kids are to behave and if they cant then they should be taken outside untill they stop crying etc... This is out of respect for the other people that are trying to have a nice meal! It seems to me that this person was looking for somthing free or a handout! I worked at Cutillos for 13 years and must say that John Cutillo is one of the nicest and most understading people in the industry! He dosn't deserve this poor write up! Cutillos has excellent food and service and I recommend it to everyone!

Take-out could be improved We used to rely on Cutillo's for very good, consistent take-out food. However, our last 2 trips have been somewhat disappointing.
In the first instance, 2 meatball parmesan sandwiches were ordered from the take-out kitchen. The person taking the order on the phone confirmed the order and provided an estimate as to when the sandwiches would be ready. We arrived to the take-out kitchen where the counter employee again confirmed the order of 2 meatball parmesan sandwiches and rang up the order. We were provided with a bag with 2 sandwiches in it and drove back home. Once at home, we opened the sandwiches only to discover 2 chicken parmesan sandwiches instead. Seeing that we live 15 minutes away, it was not worth it to us to drive 15 minutes back to return the sandwiches and another 15 minutes back home.
Thinking this mistake was just a fluke, a couple of weeks later we ordered a large pizza and an order of wings from Cutillo's take-out kitchen. Again, we drove to the restaurant and picked up our order. When we got home and started eating the pizza, it became readily apparent that the pizza was severly overdone. The bottom of the pizza was black, the crust was tough to chew, and there was a faint "charred" taste.
Our suggestion to all is to open up and check your food before you leave the take-out kitchen. Make sure the order is correct and that the food is properly prepared.
We are not sure what has happened to the take-out kitchen, but we have been reluctant to go back since these past 2 incidents.
As a side note, We used to thoroughly enjoy getting the "bucket of spaghetti" as well. We noticed, over time, a change in the number of meatballs, amount of sauce, and general quality of the sauce used as well. It used to be a very rich, dark red, flavorful sauce. It gradually went to a thin, weak, sparsely used and less robust sauce. They also used to provide a cup of sauce on the side in addition to the sauce already in the spaghetti. The last 2 times we got the "bucket of spaghetti" several months ago, the sauce on the side was not provided.
Perhaps the dining room offers better food than what is available in the take-out kitchen. The menus are different, so perhaps they have a separate kitchen as well. On the take-out side, however, we have found other restaurants in the Pottstown area that provide excellent take-out food. [22 Apr 2007 17:26:27]
