A Delight for the Senses! My hubby and I dined for the first time, at Sweet St. Cafe this evening. We were absolutely thrilled with the entire experience.
The appetizer was Brioche with sweet sausage and fontina cheese. It was delicious. He had Sole, wrapped around crab meat. I sampled that and it was delicious. I had the pheasant special, which was incredible.
The home made breads are not to be missed.
The ambience of the cafe is quaint and very warm and welcoming. You will find yourself looking around at the interesting art on the walls.
The service is terrific. The pace between courses could not have been better.
I failed to mention that the salad was of the spring mix variety, very fresh, and delicious, and I had the chef's own cucumber dressing......delicious. Oh yes, one more thing, the veggies were done just right.
The chef is very personable, and we very much enjoyed talking with he and his partner after our meal.
I look forward to many more visits. [16 Mar 2002 02:08:46]

WHAT A GREAT PLACE I did not know what I was missing by not going to Sweet Bay sooner!! The food was great, service friendly. Very small. We liked the BYO concept.. [09 Mar 2004 06:19:03]

Keep It Your Secret I discovered this place through a referral from a friend, and was thoroughly pleased with this little gem of a place. The chef/owner gave a cheery hello and was quite comical on the phone when discussing reservations. His wife was very warming and informative with the daily selection, which was nothing short of outstanding. I had oysters in a champagne cream sauce wrapped in puff pastry for an appetizer, and the braised rabbit for the entree, and the service was excellent, the atmosphere cozy and very much like you were in their home, and best of all- the food was OUTSTANDING! Nothing fell off the Sysco truck- everything fresh from the salad to the appetizer to the entree- all obviously prepared by someone who loves food. [09 Sep 2004 12:19:29]

It's all true Pretty much every review I looked at is right on in terms of quality. One exception would be to avoid the raspberry vinagrette which I found tasteless. Yummy doesn't begin to cover everything else.
Points to add would be to remember that this is strictly a BYOB(ottle) establishment (corkage available, no problem) and the chef/owner can supply recommendations as to what goes well with what or you can, of course, make your own decisions. The menu is always available in advance.
One more point is mentioned: Street Parking! Which means you park where you can but the owner will tell you that there is some off-street parking available at the law office across the street.
Be sure to go to the closest map (hit the + key) and note the one way streets! Failure to know this in advance will have you running all over that part of town trying to find your way back to the Restaurant! [26 Aug 2006 21:08:29]

A hidden gem One of the best meals I've ever been served. Was I famished or was the food that good? [16 Sep 2006 12:37:42]

You won't be sorry It was like going to your friend's house for a dinner, if your friend is an incredible cook and believes in fresh foods and generous portions and has a dining room that is comfortable yet with welcome touches of elegance. Nice enough to be a "special" place but still relaxed enough to feel relaxed in.
We're going back this week and have been telling everyone we know. [03 Oct 2006 09:14:16]
