Superb I am from London and visited Upper Darby back in July 2002. My partner and I went to Bona Cucina to celebrate our engagement. The atmosphere was perfect, relaxed and warm, the staff the friendliest I had come across and the food.... well it was sheer bliss. I highly recommend Bona Cucina, to anyone who appreciates real authentic Italian cooking. It was so good I'm going back in December. [06 Dec 2002 08:14:50]

Hidden Secret in Upper Darby I am imensely pleased with Bona Cucina. Me and my current boyfriend went there for our first date and are now going back for Valentine's Day. The waiters were kind and knowledgeable (the owner even came out to serve dessert!), the food was spectacular and the overall evening had a warm, comforting feeling to it. A very special find. Best Restruant experience in Delaware County Our experience started when we were treated like friends being seated in a cozy comfortable setting with images of the old country surounding us. Our appetizers consisted of tender mussels seasoned to perfection and a stuffed Portabella bursting with cll and taste. For entrees we selected the specail stuffed veal chop that was a melt in your mouth winner served in a special wild mushroom and veal demi-glaze. We finished sharing three desserts and great capacion. All for a fair price. [18 Jun 2004 16:19:29]

I love this place! I've been here many times ans it never fails to please. I have been to many Italian restaurants, in and around the city, and in NJ, and this is the best. The food is great, the service is friendly and I have never ordered something that I haven't loved. Although the restaurant is tiny, it is also very casual and cozy. I highly recommend it to anyone. A waste of time and money Got to the restaurant at 8:00 for our reservations. We were seated (in the middle of the floor between the kitchen and the front door- Heavy foot traffic) We sat with our menus for at least 20 minutes until the owners wife who is also waitress and who was more interested in mingling took our order. We ordered appetizers to start and our entrees. We were never asked if we would like drinks, and 5 minutes later when we asked for more water she left the whole pitcher at our table. After 20 more minutes (40 since we got there) our appetizers arrived. There was a luke warm "chefs special" crab and lobster bisque with neither crab or lobster meat visible and 5.00 Caesar salad that looks like it could have been bought at the Wendy's drive through. 10 minutes later our entrées came out my 18.00 shrimp marinara boasted a whopping FIVE shrimp and a pound of greasy linguini the other entree cheese tortellini 13.00 were over cooked. After 5 minutes of eating we had enough I took us 20 more minutes to get our 50.00 check. [24 Apr 2006 10:47:41]

Always a good meal I've been to this restaurant 8 - 10 times and have enjoyed every meal. The service is great and the specials are always just that - special and delicious. Gotta love a BYOB where you can spend the $$ for the food. [24 Aug 2006 09:45:49]

Excellent My wife and I are serious restaurant veterans. Bona Cucina is one of our favorite places, specializing in fish and steaks, as well as near-perfect renditions of almost all Italian standard entrees. This is one of those restaurants with modest aims, but outstanding results, way beyond what one should expect. The chef is the owner, and has an impeccable touch with seasoning and flavor that is unique. He takes time with his dishes, thus sometimes the wait is longer, but so very well worth it. It's BYOB and the prices modest. Service has always been warm, friendly, and excellent. We've been in Philly for 30 years, and South Philly for 10 of them. This is one of the top 3 Italian BYOB restaurants, and for the price point, easily No.1. [29 Dec 2006 20:35:35]

Just flat out excellent Italian food Best Italian restaurant for food I've been to outside of the city. Family atmosphere, friendly knowledgeable staff, really good food..and that from a paisan here. A bit cramped, but it's a Mom and Pop, so what do you expect. Bring some good bottles of vino, and you got a great night out. Four stars compared to city BYOBs, five stars plus for the burbs. Old world charm in a cozy atmosphere I'm one of the lucky ones who lives within one half miles of the Bona Cucina. Tucked into the saddle of three residental streets along a short row of storefronts and conveninetly located near public transportation, it is one of the best Italian restaurants on any list. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is authentic, the service is prompt and courtious and overall a pleasant dining experience. I highly recommend it for both locals and visitors alike. A word of caution, however! They do NOT take credit cards, so bring cash. [23 Aug 2007 13:38:02]

dee lish If you want a taste of Philly without traveling to the city you need to go to Bna. It is a scene out of Rcky. Old world charm not the best ambiance but the place is filled with love nd friendship. Eeryone is hving a great time so it is loud. The food is fresh and tasty. The service is relaxed. they want you to enjoy and savor each stage of your dining experience. If you want a drive thru meal go to McDonalds! Great overall dining experienc. 4 out of five stars.
