My new favorite eatery
I've never had prime rib as delicious and well prepared as Coombs offers. The service was wonderful, and the environment was quite friendly. I was even told "goodbye" from our waiter. There's a reason why you have to make a reservation on Fri/Sat evenings: everybody wants to dine there. We are recommending Coombs Tavern to all of our friends. Why spend a fortune on a great steak.

I first visited Coombs on a recommendation from my dad. Since then, I've taken many people there. Now they're doing the same.

Small, comfortable restaurant with exceptional service.

Unbelievable Prime Rib
I have heard from many people over the past several years that Coombs Tavern has the best prime rib in the area. I finally tried it for myself while Christmas shopping in the York area. I agree 100% that it is the most tender flavorful prime rib I have ever had. I was so impressed, that when friends asked me where we can get a bite to eat before the George Carlin show on Saturday night, I immediately said - Coombs Tavern for prime rib. Crabcakes crabcakes crabcakes

Take your appetite
My wife and I split the 2 pound prime rib and stalled out with about a third left. A colossal cut and really flavorful. If you should have to wait a few minutes for your reservation, the bar staff is especially friendly.    [07 Jan 2006 21:14:02]

The best of the best
I have had everything on the menu at least once. Coombs is a neighborhood tavern that is surpassed by no restaurant. The food is always top quality and reasonably priced. I was on assignment in York, PA for over 5 years and ate there just about every day (lunch and diner). The service is also the best you'll find any where. Kathi, Jeff, Natilie, Tana and Kelly are at your beconing call, as are Terisa and Ron, the owners, to serve you. The ambience is definately a "Cheers" place. The local patrons have been coming to Coombs for 50+ years. The nicest crowd you'll ever meet. The bar and resturant are usually busy every night. Reservations are recommended for dinner most nights. Best secret to share
Every item on the menu is good. I have been there several times and always am impressed with everything. I've heard people from the SRA out in a store saying how impressed they were. They went one night, the next time they went in "Coombs" remembered their beverages and brought them as soon as they were seated. We love it too
