Just like in the movies You know when you come into a sort of harbor town, fishing community and you are looking for a place that has the old town feel? This is the place!!! I like to search out places where the locals hang out ... this is the place. The food is consistantly great and the people are the best. If you come to town and don't stop by this restaurant, you have really "missed the boat!!" [20 Aug 2003 14:45:32]

Got seafood Chopmist does - and it's the best around. I can't remember when I had fish in a restaurant that was so fresh. [28 Aug 2003 17:42:55]

The best calamari I am a Chef and every year I vacation in jamestown I must eat there 4 times in a week and I MUST eat the saute'd calamari with garlic olives and hot peppers Yum, my mouth is watering already. Be there tonight; its vacation time! [05 Jun 2004 10:30:41]

Yum We stayed in Jamestown on Columbus Weekend and dinner was delicious! Service was super-friendly from the bartenders (there was a long wait but now we know why!) to the wait-staff. Excellent, excellent, excellent. We never even made it into Newport to eat that weekend! [20 Nov 2004 09:39:59]

Chopmist Charlies Went to Jamestown Saturday June 24. Stopped in for lunch. We ordered the same items, two lobster rolls with baked beans and cole slaw and chowder and clam cakes. The clam cakes were unflavored dough balls, chowder had a somewhat sour taste and the lobster roll that's served to "local yokels" was unbelievable. Unbelievably bad. I should have known that this was not going well when I saw two slices of tomato on the very dry toasted roll with a lettuce leaf. The baked beans were served hot, BUT they are in no way home made. They are canned beans with some additional onions for flavor. B&M come to mind. The cole slaw was almost warm and non descript. I regret spending my money here and will go out of my way to avoid this place. [25 Jun 2006 18:08:39]

Chopmist Charlies -- avoid at all costs We should have realized what we were in for when we asked the waitress before ordering if the air conditioning could be ratcheted down a notch (it was freezing at our table on a cool night) and she gave us an apparently rehearsed, couldn't-care-less and can't-do-a-thing response. Two of our party of four ordered haddock amandine, which tasted awful. The amandine topping was heavily bread-crumbed with an overly sweetened flavor, and the fish itself was dried out and sour. The baked potato was brown inside, and its skin so leathery that it was a challenge to even cut it open. The meal was unprofessional, close to inedible. The maitre'd unapologetically dismissed our politely expressed criticism with a mumbled "some people don't expect the sweet taste of the amandine" and beat a hasty retreat. In fairness, the dishes ordered by the other 2 members of our party were, according to them, decent. Bottom line: I'd never go back there. [27 Aug 2006 14:39:41]

Chopmist Charlies great sandwichwa We stop at this place at least 3 times every summer since we moor our boat just over the hill on the other side of the island. I have never, and I repeat never had a bad meal there. Now I do not like seafood, but burgers and chicken have always been fantastic! Love the place and look forward to my next visit. From A It's not much of a stretch to say that we're soon moving to Jamestown in large part because of Chopmist Charlie's. I've finally found a restaurant that knows how to do RI clear clam chowder 'n clamcakes the way I remember them from the Rocky Point Shore Dinner Hall when I was a kid. Manna from heaven. Friendly staff, prompt service, comfy atmosphere, all at fair prices. The disgruntled reviews here must come from people with too much money and time on their hands, if you catch my drift. Sod 'em....go to Newport, instead! That'll keep the tables open at Chopmist Charlie's! [05 Aug 2007 11:49:28]
