The Village Hearth Bakery I have not had success in getting to this place because of time constrictions, (mine and their hours of business)... However, I did not give up! Anytime I was near the place and by that I mean, up to 20 minutes away, OK, half hour away... Finally, one day I caught the baker while he was closing ... I explained my dilemma and he was genuinely sorry... In fact he re-opened the store and gave us, (my wife and myself), the only roll he had left for the day, free... Which was very nice of him to do that as I'm sure not too many people would have done this... Don't you agree? Furthermore, this is the only bakery I go to now because I have never, that's correct, never, tasted anything so delicious... I now schedule my days to accommodate the trip to this incredible bakery... Also, you know how people are sometimes when they let their talents go to their heads... Not so with this couple, (Husband and Wife), they're just as nice as can be too... Yes, the stuff costs more than your typical loaf at the supermarket but there is nothing that compares, nothing! I havn't gone through the entire menu but eventually I will... In fact I'm thinking of moving closer to the place so that I could have their wonderful goodies more often... I cannot say enough about this place except try it! [06 Dec 2005 13:22:05]

the HEART in the village hearth Not only are the baked goods offered by this artisan married couple the most outstanding and fresh ever, but these folks are down to earth, friendly, and accomodating under the busiest of circumstances! A "must stop" for anyone travelling to or through Jamestown, Rhode Island. [09 May 2006 17:18:43]

the best part of Jamestown My parents found this jewel many years ago, I never took the time to experience this delight until I moved to Jamestown. It is the closest thing to my wonderful baking of my "nana".The only complaint I have is they close for 2 MONTHS!!!in the winter. So I go through withdrawals until April when they reopen and I can once again smell the wonders of THe Village Hearth Bakery. stepping back in time Wow....I visited the bakery for the first time today. I had the most delicious Asiago Bread I have ever encountered. The couple that own the bakery are kind and very friendly. I almost felt like I had gone back in time and arrived in Italy. I support local business and am very happy I saw the smoke exiting the wood stove this morning. I am looking forward to my next visit. All around best bakery I use to work for these two wondeful people. I have nothing but praises for the bread, food & atmosphere. If I didn't live in NYC I would still be making weekly trips back to visit & score some of the best bread I have ever had in my life. Take it from me I have travled all over (in my days as a traveling musicican, which is how I ended up working for them) All of the food there is top notch. You can't beat supporting a family business run by generous beautiful people close to the ocean & ahh I miss them & the amazing bread. [01 Feb 2008 14:27:59]
