Not such a hit anymore
After eating at Davor's numerous times over the past year or so, we found our most recent dining experience less than enjoyable. The service has ALWAYS been a bit of an issue, but it is something those of our group of friends endured because they had such great food.

The food over the past month or so hasn't been what we have come to expect. As one of my friends observed, it was like an inexperienced home cook had taken over the restaurant, and was doing things that they had very little understanding of.

We and our friend have decided to wait until spring to go back, and wait for the patio to re-open, and give it another try. Until then , we'll be eating up the street at one of the better restaurants in Aiken.    [06 Jan 2006 12:45:34]

Fabulous!
What a piece of Heaven this place is. Tucked away in the "The Alley" of downtown, this beautiful restaurant has fabulous food and excellent service! From the Appetizers to the scrumptious desserts, I have never had a bad meal! Also, the staff makes you feel welcome and like part of a "Family".... The outdoor patio makes you feel as though you are dining at a cafe in Europe. Love the live music on the patio as well!! "TWO THUMBS UP"    [06 Nov 2006 19:38:02]

Impressive, really
I was lucky enough to be visiting friends for new years when they suggested that we eat at Davor's. They had learned there was a new Chef and wanted to try it out again. All I can say is wow. Refreshing, great service, intimate setting and spectacular food. They Had a preset menu for dinner so Im not sure what they would normally offer. But I can tell you that having fois gras , peekytoe crab and butter poached lobster was enough to make me want to try it again.    [07 Jan 2007 16:18:18]

NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE!
We have lived in Aiken for a few years and was very impressed with Davor's when it opened. Yesterday we went with four out of town friends. The first problem was that they did not have our reservation that was made five days earlier. When we went to order they were out of half of the items on their entree menu, as well as some of their posted specials. The waiter was indifferent. When we were able to find things that we would order, it took a very long time to get it. I ordered the Rack of Lamb to be cooked "pink". When it arrived, it was crispy and over cooked.

I think that the owners are distracted by getting their new market opened nearby, but should be watching the restaurant closer.    [26 Mar 2007 08:10:04]

One of the Worst
I cannot say this for the entire Davor's staff and menu but Sunday brunch was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in a while. For me working in restaurants since I was 14 I have some slight expectations of good service and good food. The service for Sunday brunch was one of the worst (she forgot most of what we had even after we ordered, she had to come back two times to ask) She took forever to get our menus and wipe down a table for us, along with the fact it took 15 min for 3 waters and a soda. Beyond that the food was cold (I had the shrimp and grits) the food was swimming in sauce and had no substance. The one thing that really got me though is another server tried to argue with me and tell me that I was wrong. They soon removed the 2 shrimp and grits from the bill. Beyond that the food for dinner looked great but not lunch or brunch! A word to the wise if you go expect a long wait for food and horrible service! I wish there was a manager on duty or at least the owner there to see how the restaurant is being ran. I have never had such a horrible time at a restaurant that I had the urge to write a bad comment. One the upside the apricot pastry was great!! Along with the bread and butter!!!    [05 Apr 2007 08:35:38]
