A cultural must-have Corbett McGee's has great food, friendly service, and an addictive atmosphere. Concerts, events, and world music samples are always happening, creating a cultural must-have for the city of Anderson. Great food, good spirits, and variety give this place an attractive comfort level with a splash of fun. If anything needs to change, I think they could use more wait staff. Midday tends to have slightly slower service from the amount of lunch-goers and too few staff. [08 Jun 2004 09:59:55]
Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: My favorite is the beer cheese soup! I also like the Shrimp and Grits, Blarney Burger, and New England Grilled Cheese (it has fresh salmon on it!).

Being a chef in the area, I know a thing or two about convenience foods. Corbett McGee's is fast being overrun by them. I was especially dissapointed with the mashed potatoes that were obviously from a powder. Don't even get me started on the microwaved, frozed pot pie. But regardless of the convenience food, the fully stocked bar is great. Excellent selection of high quality import drafts. [11 Jul 2004 23:14:37]

correction The dish mentioned previously with fresh salmon on moist soda bread with cheese and tomato is not called the New England Grilled Cheese, but the Norwegian Grilled Cheese. [05 Aug 2004 11:23:06]
Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: I, of course, highly recommend the Norwegian grilled cheese!

I work in the emergency room here in Anderson SC and I would like to thank each and everyone that had a special hand in our appreciation dinner. It was great fun, food, and entertainment!! A special thanks to Dixie for allowing us to close the place down! [04 Sep 2005 12:16:25]

A Bit Ireland in our Own Back Yard I am not a chef, but work with great ones. We've been to McGee's Irish Pub many times after work and all my colleagues agree that this is some of the best quality pub food available. Maybe they upgraded the menu since the previous chef reviewer posted. The beer selection is top notch, a fully stocked liquor shelf, and a decent but small wine selection. The live entertainment is top quality and usually free of charge. The best night spot in town with a friendly crowd of regulars. Everyone is made to feel welcomed and part of the family. Anderson's best pub There are some "convenience foods" at McGee's, but McGee's has such a wide range of food that this is probably unavoidable. If you get chicken 'n chips (chicken fingers, fries and slaw) don't expect a gourmet meal. However, their specialties are top notch. The Irish lamb stew is my favorite and the shepards pie is good as well. I recommend the spinach pot if you just want an appetizer.
They have a well stocked bar and an excellent selection of beer, including a wide variety of imported beer on tap.
Service is usually good but inconsistent. Some servers are very good, others terrible. The wait staff is always friendly, though. Bar service is excellent.
However, what makes McGee's the best pub in Anderson is the atmosphere. Great crowd, great music (usually free) and the feel of an authentic Irish pub. The atmosphere is friendly and laid back and everyone is made to feel welcome. [09 Jul 2007 09:44:55]
