The best country buffet in SC and the world is located in Leesville and it's name is none other than Shealey's BBQ. Tour buses come from all over the South to eat there. Endless buffet of veggies and meat are devine and there is no better fried chicken. [31 Mar 2003 01:51:28]

Shut your mouth. One taste of Shealy's food and you'll slap your mama. Best fried chicken on this planet. The home of mustard base barbecue. It's all good. [23 Jun 2003 11:46:34]

Pullybone Heaven In the South, wishbones are referred to as Pullybones and there are none better than those served at Shealy's. Just ask and they'll bring you a bowl of the best fried chicken pullybones in the world . Mrs. Shealy also serves up some great liver nips which is a spiced creamed liver concoction that no one's ever heard of outside of Lexington and Newberry County. I have eaten all over the South and this country buffet is the best there is . I would rate it above Mrs. Wilkes in Savanah and the Blue Willow in Social Circle , Ga. The BBQ is only average but who cares there is so much to love about this place including the daily Bible verse that makes you forget your gluttony . I once went there with some folks from Cal. who video taped all those long tables of southerns in overalls breaking bread together . I imagine people on the other coast had never seen anything like us before. [06 Aug 2003 23:40:35]

Great gravy When you visit Shealy's, try the milk gravy...it is the best in the world. Great on rice and chicken livers, which are also top notch. [11 Nov 2003 19:21:14]

Too Good to be True Down home cooking at its best. You can really hurt yourself trying to sample the whole menu. The fried chicken livers are moist and sumptuous. Best fried chicken ever, and the baked beans have been doctored like only your mother can. Finish this off with the creamed corn that is like sweet ambrosia you have a complete meal. They also have excellent desserts. A must to see and sample [07 Dec 2003 17:02:19]

All the Way from Canada I began visiting Shealys while living in Columbia in the early 1980s. Moved to Canada in 1987 and Shealys is now a part of every trip back home. Just can't get enough of that downhome cooking. Love the vegetable soup, fried okra, rutabeggars, green beans, cornbread, iced tea and barbeque. Oh, how I miss southern food and Shealys is the best. All my relatives in SC rave about it too! We love Shealys! [21 Feb 2004 12:06:52]

Legendary Greenbeans Our family always looks forward to the summer because one stop on our vacation list is always Shealy's. Any excuse we get to go there is a wonderful thing. The annual pilgramage to Shealy's will remain a tradition in our house for years to come. Why put ourselves through 4 hours of road trip to get there you ask? The answer of course being because of the great food, the pleasant afterchurch meal kind of atmosphere of sitting next to strangers and automatically being able to find conversation.
It is said to be a 40+ piece buffet...I don't know about that because I always accidentally wind up piling my plate too high with just 5 things and go back for 2 more items for seconds and being too full to eat anything else. Even if you say you dont like barbeque, this isn't what you'd expect. The sauce is made from a mustard base, and is nothing like any other barbeque sauce i've ever tasted. So its different...but how does it taste you ask? WONDERFUL! My parents had started doing the annual pilgramage in the 70's, and we've kept up the tradition. If you're in the area you should stop by and pay them a visit too! [09 Apr 2004 00:58:50]

Overrated I was born in Orangeburg, SC, and that has a lot to do with why I don't care for Shealey's. The greenish, stringy hash is so clumpy it's tough to eat without a knife. The BBQ is average, but the one item they can do right is the green beans. Cooked with a hamhock in the pot, it is just like grandma used to do.
Travel an hour down I-26 and try Antley's BBQ in Orangeburg instead. It is unreal! [30 Sep 2004 23:28:11]

You can't come just once. This place just makes you come back time and again. Undoubtedly the best southern cookin' around. If you can't find enough different foods to stuff yourself, you ain't alive. [06 Dec 2004 12:20:08]
