Best Midlands Seafood With A View It's a nice drive to see Lake Murray, which is the largest man made lake anywhere around. Thanks to this WPA project, SC was able to creep out of the depression.
The Rusty Anchor has good seafood but the view is better. You feel like you're down on Shem Creek with all those boats around. [07 Aug 2003 00:33:06]

Brooklyn Girl Missing the Lake As a former employee of The Anchor, I am ably suited to critique the quality of food and service provided. All I can say is, as a new resident of New York City (the best city in the world for eating, no doubt!), I still long for Chef Rob's Cashew Encrusted Grouper w/ Champagne Cream Sauce, Fried Green Tomatoes, Blackened Tuna w/ Steamed Vegetables, Shrimp and Grits, and too many other dishes and specialties to recall.
Of course, there's the delectable view of the lake, shiny hardwood floors, white twinkling lights in the trees, and the familiar sounds of Van Morrison, Bob Marley, and David Gray to make these memories more comforting still. Do me a favor- go to the Rusty Anchor, tell Rob that Natalie says hi, order some rare tuna, eat hush puppies, and think of this girl you never met in Brooklyn who wishes she was you... The Best Wedding Reception Ever My husband and I had our wedding reception at The Quarter Deck. The service was excellent and to our surprise we were the first to have a wedding reception at the lakeside bar. The food and drinks were excellent. It was a night we will never forget. Fabulous! This is a great little gem of a restaurant tucked away on the shores of Lake Murray in Chapin. The food and service are wonderful everytime we go, and the atmosphere makes you feel like your on a mini vacation. We love it! [30 May 2006 13:39:24]
