overrated
A local tour guide recommended Magnolia's for Southern cooking, and especially to try the Shrimp and Grits. I thought it was ok, nothing to write home about. The sauce was too rich and tangy, I think it was made with bacon fat. I had the Pulled Pork with collard greens and mash potatoes. Man, heart-attack city. The pork was too sweet, the collard greens were too salty and potatoes were too buttery. I was very disappointed since I was looking forward to good, ole Southern cooking. The service is wonderful! My waiter knew all about the wine and the restaurant. All the food there is right on. I have had numerous of plates there during lunch and dinner.    [25 Sep 2004 13:18:28]
