Pixie and Bill's in Clemson is the oldest and one of the best restaurants in this university community of about 12,500 residents and 17,000 students. The restaurant is owned and operated by the four Corontes brothers, some or all of whom attended Clemson University. The restaurant is very attractive and uses white linens, a rarity for restaurants in Clemson. Pixie and Bills' is a relatively quiet place, tastefully decorated, usually a very well trained wait staff, usually university students. Above all, the food is reasonably priced and very good. Pixie & Bills - the BEST of Clemson Pixie & Bill's is without doubt the best restaurant in Clemson, SC (and the surrounding area). With a low-key atmosphere that accommodates casual to more upscale dinners, Pixie & Bill's has the perfect mix of cozy elegance and fabulous food to make any diner welcome. Brick interiors, solid polished wood, and a fireplace make couples dining very comfortable.
I moved from New York City to Clemson, SC and had a very hard time finding a restaurant to love, but Pixie & Bill's was it. My low-country husband (from Charleston, SC) agrees completely.
We have both picked around the menu many times, but our outstanding favorite has got to be the prime rib. The prime rib is consistently cooked and seasoned to perfection, always tender, and completely sumptious. The portions are filling even to the most demanding standards, and if that wasn't enough, they offer the choice of different weight cuts! I admit fully that when we go there we both order the "large" prime rib, knowing i'ts the best thing we're going to eat and enjoying it fully. It's our single excess.
For an appetizer I would heartily recommend the Broiled Scallops in Parmesan Portabella Caps, whilst my husband swears by the Fried Zucchini and Mushrooms (served with a delicious dipping sauce).
I have to admit that a good portion of my dining experience is based on service. If the service is bad, not even the perfection of the meal could redeem the experience. The service at Pixie & Bills has always been excellent, even when the restaurant was packed on Clemson University event weekends (partents weekends or great football events). The servers are attentive, friendly, knowledgeable about the food, and able to make very good wine recommendations. My biggest irritation in dining is when I am rushed or delayed. Timing is a large part of fine dining, and the timing was perfect.
As for incidentals you might want to keep the following in mind: reservations come in handy during university events, bathrooms are small but clean, and if you sit by the bar you may occasionally get the television noise. They do also cater to parties with a room or two reserved in the rear of the establishment. We never had the occasion to visit those.
I would definitely reccommend Pixie & Bills as the best restaurant in Clemson, SC. They do have another restaurant affiliated with the same owners by the name of Calhoun Corners. We've been there as well several times, and although they offer a menu less limited to steaks and seafood, the service and food has always been disappointing compared to the price.
Pixie & Bills doesnt come quite cheap but you get every penny you pay for. [01 Oct 2004 11:29:00]

The Best ! I've eaten in restaurants up and down the East Coast. This restaurant is a hidden treasure tucked away in an awesome college town. Truly a cuisine experience at most reasonable prices. [30 Sep 2005 17:50:55]

Wedding Rehearsal dinner at Pixie & Bills The staff at Pixie and Bills were absolutely professional in setting up and serving our wedding rehearsal dinner group of 33. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else in the area after eating here. Their timing was perfect, as was their refilling of the drinks and the serving of all of the courses. Jordan and staff, thank you. You did a great job! [30 Nov 2005 16:47:33]
