Must Visit this Place! I live in Ohio, so when I visit my mom in Charleston, I want the total beach experience! This was a fun place, the atmosphere was 'cool'.
It is so nice to enjoy your dinner and drinks and smell the ocean air. I recommend trying a red headed parrot, this is fabulous! I don't like seafood, but my boyfriend had the shrimp, we had to go back the day before we left town, so he could have it again! I had the chicken fingers, which were incredible! The second time, I had a chicken sandwich. The overall experience was great, loved the restroom decor, something you have to see.
I wear my Coconut Joe's T-shirt proudly in Ohio, and tell everyone it's worth the long trip! [07 Mar 2002 08:46:01]

This Place is a Hit With Us! We recently stayed on the island and ate at Coconut Joe's not once, but twice. My family is still raving about the shrimp and grits and the scallops. I highly recommend the tropical wrap with jerk chicken. We loved it! Our kids are wearing their Coconut Joe's T- shirts with pride! [07 Apr 2002 18:49:02]

Impressive! The people there were great! They were swamped but still so nice and friendly!
The food was off the hook! Better than Hymens! Try the crab claws! [11 Jun 2002 16:12:42]

My Favorite I love this place!
After my husband died, I visited his brother and wife in Charleston and while they were at work one day, I drove to the beach. I spotted the restaurant and since it was lunch time, I decided I'd eat there. My main reason was because you could sit outside and feel the ocean breeze and just enjoy the ocean atmosphere.
To be honest, I wasn't expecting a great deal when I ordered the shrimp. I WAS fooled. I've never had it so delicious! That evening I raved and raved about the restaurant to my brother-in-law and his wife. The following year I returned to Charleston and YES, I made a beeline to Coconut Joe's with my sister in law. I'm headed back to Charleston in October and Coconut Joe's is certainly on my agenda. [21 Aug 2002 00:37:32]

So busy, they don't need your business! Used to be one of our favorite places to eat on the IOP, but recently we were so insulted by their manager telling us "we don't need your business" that we decided we don't need to support their business either, especially when there are so many other great places to eat and drink within a stone's throw. Try Banana Cabana or Wind Jammer if you're not inclined to wait 45-90 mins just for the privilage of being insulted by the arrogant staff. However, it may not be all her fault, because she informed us that she heard the owner tell the same thing to another party just the day before. So I guess that says it all. [04 Apr 2005 13:21:24]

Good eats, good music, a real good time! My fiance' and I try to make it to Charleston at least twice a year, and no visit would be complete without a visit to Coconut Joe's. The upstairs patio, the food and the warm, friendly people, make this a MUST DO for us. We've encouraged our friends to do the same whenever they visit S.C. The shrimp is some of the best around, at prices that won't break your back. Plus, the cool ocean breeze in the evenings are the perfect way to cool off after a long day, whether you're on vacation or not. Make friends with 'Tequila Ted' at the top of the stairs going up to the patio; he's a former corporate suit turned party guy. A good time will be had by all. And don't forget those awesome bands playing on the patio...PARTY ON, MON! [09 Oct 2005 23:38:21]

Ummmmmm it's gooooood! My wife and I viewed this site before going to the Isle of Palms for a four day break from life. We read all the reviews and had mixed thoughts if we should try them or not. We did try Coconut Joe's out and LOVED IT! I was shocked seeing that others had written bad reviews. The food was very good annd fast. We only waited 10 mins and were told 15 mins. The view was so great. We ate lunch and went upstairs with our drinks and sat for 2 hours watch the sun go down. It's places like Coconut Joe's that make people move to Isle of Palms we can't wait to go back! Phillip and Donna N.Y. [10 Feb 2007 10:26:45]

Heading Back A very dear friend moved to Mt. Pleasant a few years ago. On our first trip to visit we went to Coconut Joe's. We have been coming back every year! A trip to South Carolina just wouldn't be the same without it. I always get the crab cakes. Having spent years living in Maryland where Crabs are what they are known for, I can truly say, Coconut Joe's is up there with the best!!! There have been times we have opted to sit inside rather than wait for an outside table, but as part of the compromise we take a stroll down the beach after eating. We have always had pleasant service. I am sure everyone has some kind of bad day ... and dealing with the public is NEVER easy. [17 May 2007 15:27:51]
