One of my worst dining experiences ever Following up on the recommendation of Southern Living magazine, 6 friends and I decided to try the Charleston Cafe.
First of all, we were seated in the smoking section as they did not have enough tables in the nonsmoking section to accommodate a party larger than 4. (There were tables in the nonsmoking section.)
Then our very nice server told us that she had some good news and bad news and the bad news was that they were out of beef -- they had 1 8-oz filet and a couple of strip steaks. This was a 7:30 on a Friday night!!! I had a strip steak that was terrible -- how can you hurt a strip steak??? It had no seasoning or anything on it. Just a piece of dry meat. The people sitting next to us smoked the entire time and even delighted in blowing smoke our way. We were not offered refills on our drinks. When the desert tray was brought, there were only 3 pieces of sweet potato pie, some cheesecake, and something chocolate. Why are they even in business if they cannot keep an adequate supply of food on hand??? Why didn't they just go to the Food Lion and buy some filets there, since there were 7 of us who wanted filets??? Terrible, terrible, terrible. We will never go back. [05 Dec 2005 13:28:15]
