Famous but not fabulous
I am from the South and have sampled barbecue at its best, from the dry rub ribs of Memphis to the mustardy-spicy barbecue of the Carolinas to the fall off the bone slow cooked pork in Alabama and Georgia. Famous Daves is a reasonable approximation but not the real thing.

The ribs are meaty but not adequately smoked and slathered with an overly sweet sauce that I asked on the side to dip, and it came ON, not on side The pork sandwich is chopped, always a sign that they don't cook their pork long enough. Real southern barbecue is almost always pulled by hand right off the bone into bite size pieces that melt in your mouth. Sauces seemed canned or mixed from canned ingredients.    [21 Nov 2005 10:51:52]
