Gosh, guys. I musta had a bad coupla past two experiences in take-out from Kalamata. Last time I attributed it to burnt out wait staff. This time: 1) The restaurant wasn't open 'til some time after 5 (it was supposed to open at 5, as advertised).
2) The lettuce (in the Greek salad), seemingly iceberg, was brown and ugly and wilted.
3) The pita was definitely old...a day or two...and hard.
4) The staff was, again, burnt out and lackadaisical.
Kalamata, just defer to Milano's...or another restaurant. Give it up.    [02 May 2007 19:25:05]

Just isnt the same
I used to go to Kalamata Cafe all the time. The staff began to recognize me cause I was such a constant regular customer. Than lately I noticed the Greek food no longer taste the same! I really liked the staff and had gotten to know them since the restaurant opened so I continued to go.
I kept thinking the kitchen was just having a bad day but NO come to find out ownership had changed! No longer was a Greek owner in charge of it. That explains why the food no longer tastes good.    [22 Jul 2007 12:08:01]

Wait...I love the change!
Hey wait! Yes the ownership and food has changed, but don't be so quick to sluff off Kalamata. I loved the earlier version, but now the ownership is Asian. This is the BEST place for sushi in Knoxville these days without a doubt. The greek is still great, but I can't seem to get past the wonderful offerings in sushi.    [18 Jan 2008 17:59:27]
