Nothing like a good steak and the feeling of being in a mid-'70s clubhouse dining room in Middle America. - CitySearch - suggest change

Since my transfer from VA to TN, I frequent the Cherokee, and when out of town guests come, I always prefer to take them to the Cherokee rather than any other restaurants in the Nashville area. The other restaurants in my opinion cannot compete with the food, service and the price.    [27 Aug 2002 19:04:07]

Cherokee boasts the tenderest and tastiest 12 ounce filets anywhere. You can literally cut it with a fork. Try the Cherokee Chief. You won't be sorry.    [21 May 2005 16:10:42]

Yes, there's sometimes an issue of inconsistency at Cherokee. However, it ranks tops overall in the "boat dock food" category, and I'll give it a B- in the general category.

The service is usually good, if not outstanding. The summer ambiance is well above average and even better if you're enjoying the wait and the sunset while having cocktails on your boat. Also, the dock and boats are laden with lights around the winter holidays which makes for a special kind of magic on the water.

As far as the food, the petit filet is always tender and juicy. The "steak for 2 or 3" is sometimes hit or miss. You'll get a huge amount of meat. Some is likely to be a bit fatty and tough, but you'll find enough good pieces to fill you up, and have some left to take home to the pooches. -- The fried catfish has been some of the best I've ever had.

Cherokee isn't just a restaurant, it's an experience.

NOTE: Be sure and BYOB. No alcohol is served.    [03 Mar 2008 22:56:12]
