Cafe Society is something of a rarity in Memphis. The food is eclectic and delicious. The ambiance is delightful with its cozyness, dim lighting, and wonderful service. My Favorite Restaurant
I have been to Cafe Society only twice, but have had the opportunity to fall in love with it twice. It has a wonderful staff, friendly cook, and enchanting atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxed, yet formal dining experience.    [15 May 2002 22:21:32]

Awesome..you won't be disappointed
Coming from NYC I am used to really great restaurants and Cafe Society has become my favorite in Memphis. The food, atmosphere and service are all exceptional..and it is hard to find a restaurant that has all three. The portion sizes are perfect and the sauces are incredible. For people that like classy restaurants and gourmet food, you will love this place. Perfect setting for a romantic night out or a quiet evening with friends or family. Something special
I like Cafe Society for special occasions, and I haven't been disappointed yet! The food is like ambrosia for the gods, and the ambience, restaurant and wait staff were exceptional. Lunch is reasonably priced enough for anyone's budget. The only complaint would be the parking situation, but that is a VERY minor complaint.    [02 Jun 2003 22:35:58]

The bar

Best in Memphis

No Longer Best in Memphis
Cafe Society has changed chefs and menus and was a big disappointment to us. After going there for the past 9 years and always having a wonderful experience, things have changed. I think people go back to restaurants because of consistancy in quality......Change is not always good. Our favorites were gone from the appetizer menu. There were no chicken dishes on the main menu. I ordered a filet and had it sent back twice. That had never happened in any of the previous visits. The cognac sauce that was always available for the filet was not the same. After speaking to the chef and the owner, we got free deserts (wow). We were very disappointed and won't go back unless we hear that things are back to the way they were. Still no better
Cafe Society is now just a place that the neighborhood people go because it's convenient. The food and service is average and the decor is below average compared to other newer establishments in Memphis.
