Monte Cristo - superb! The Monte Cristo at the Front Porch Cafe is top notch. From the perfectly egg-toasted bread to the bacon and cheeses, this tasty delight is my favorite thing on the menu... along with the pasta salad and red new potatoes, it's worth the trip! [06 May 2003 11:59:40]

Front Porch THE BEST! I would like to get some gift certificates for Front Porch in Murfreesboro, TN.
I take all my friends from out of town to this elegantly decorated restaurant -- not just for the food but for the atmosphere at any time during the year.
Tell the restaurant to keep up the wonderful love of serving and baking. [28 Nov 2003 14:09:43]

I agree with the Monte Cristo!! The Front Porch Cafe is a cute place and very neatly set in an old house. There is intricate and detailed paintings on the walls, and there is even a fireplace! Very cozy. The desserts look amazing, although i have not tried them yet. But that was the first Monte Cristo I've had and it was wonderful! A treat for my tastebuds! The pineapple and cheese salad was amazing, i've never heard of such a thing before and I loved it!! [04 Nov 2004 22:19:49]

My family and I recently had lunch at the Front Porch Cafe. I was concerned when I saw that there was no parking since I was driving with my disabled mother. We had to park illegally and I helped my mother out of the car and up the stairs, since there was no handicapped access. I left to park the car, while my sister with 2 toddlers, a 3 month old and my invalid mother, struggled with the broken front door as an employee and manager watched. So much for Southern hospitality!
As I entered the building, my nose was assaulted with the smell of must & mold. The interior was charming, but not well maintained. The whole place could have used a good cleaning. The bathroom was disgusting!
I was ridiculed by our waiter when I asked what was in the squash cassarole. I ordered a BLT, which was small & mediocre, and I found what looked like a dog hair on my plate. I asked the other 6 people in our party thought of their food and nobody was very enthusiastic. The one bright spot was the pineapple cheese salad, which was delicious!
After we had ordered, we informed our waiter that we had a coupon from our Entertainment 2006 book and he told us to let the manager know when we paid. When we went to pay, she rudely informed us that our coupon would not be honored because we had not told the server before we had ordered. When asked why, she informed us that it was the "IRS rules". She had a bad attitude and seemed to take pleasure in denying our coupon.
I will not be patronizing the Front Porch Cafe again!! [04 Dec 2006 19:09:24]

Bad service, Bad food I waited for over 15 minutes while people walked by, a waiter ignored me, and there was no one else waiting and only two tables seated in the cafe. We then waited for another 20 minutes after getting our drinks to order food, even though we could see the server outside SMOKING.
Considering that this restaurant has a _Christian Fish_ on their sign, I thought they'd be a little more concerned with showing kindness and concern for their customers.
The bathroom wasn't clean, but it wasn't that dirty either.
The food was greasy and overpriced and it took over an hour to get in and out with two cokes and a tuna salad sandwich (which was more mayonnaise than anything else). [07 Mar 2007 13:58:39]

Not a good experience for me I had jury duty in Murfreesboro so during our lunch break I walked over to have lunch at what seemed like was going to be a really neat little place. I had heard of it but never eaten there before. I was by myself.
I am a "freak" for customer service. I really study it and how well people do at it. I'm 40 years old and old school when it comes to taking care of people. I do it in my own business.
Unfortunately, it was non-existent when I walked in. I stood there waiting on someone to direct me where to go as people walked about around me.
Finally, they seated me and the server had zero personality. She brought my drink to me then the food and I never saw her again.
My drink sat empty for 3/4 of my meal and I never did get a refill or hear from her again. I was quite frankly astonished.
The food was good all in all. I had the meat loaf and potatoes.
The atmosphere was not appealing to me. It was very quiet so much so that it made me feel uncomfortable. They need some soft music playing or something..please...just to break up the dead silence in the place.
So in summation it was unfriendly and had an uncomfortable atmosphere to me at least. The food was ok but not worth enduring the rest of it. I'm a huge tipper and it saddened me not to leave the server a good tip because it's rarely that I have to do that.
The one person that smiled at me was the girl that took my money when I was paying.
Maybe it's 'cause she knew I had just been had.
But, please, judge by the summation of the whole reviews. I would hate the owners to suffer because of one bad employee but it's their business to put people in the right position.
Word to the wise...if you are not geared towards loving people, liking people, liking to talk to people then do NOT...I repeat do NOT get into any job position where you have to deal with people. I see this every day. It's not that you are not a good person...you just aren't good at customer service so please...go be an accountant or a cubicle person somewhere.
My opinion is worth what you just paid for it. [01 Mar 2008 15:04:33]
