Poor Service; Houskeeping While People Eat Menu and ambiance cannot overcome poor service. We waited over 20 minutes for our food - not good, but ok - but when it arrived it was not the turkey wrap and onion soup I ordered.
The waiter did not apologize nor offer to replace it, just commented that he'd check to see if he had written that correctly. Not wanting to make a scene, I said I'd eat it anyway. It was good, the soup was very ordinary (what did [they] do to [their] recipe?) but the waiter never came to check if all was ok, as they usually do in most restaurants.
This mixed up order was the second instance; when we ate at R.T. in Pigeon Forge in March, they omitted one item that was supposed to be with my combo meal; again no apology nor offer to bring it, just said "its the kitchen's fault". I had to INSIST on it, and like the waiter today, they seemed to think it is ok to make such mistakes.
The half sandwich was good, but I was barely able to eat it because the waiter began to spray a very smelly Windex solution (no idea the kind, just reddish purple liquid in a Windex bottle) on the large windows next to our table. The stink not only ruined the flavor of the food, but I am on oxygen and very sensitive to chemicals. It made me quite sick. My husband asked the man to stop. He did, but was borderline surly as a waiter afterward.
I realize the man was ordered to do that by the manager so I don't blame him and left a decent tip. I used to like Ruby Tuesday but I won't eat there again. Who knows what I'd be served regardless of what I ordered and I definitely don't want to eat in a place where they are doing bigtime housekeeping while I eat. Yuk. I've never seen that even in greasy spoon type places. I didn't expect that here. The dirty windows needed a wash for sure, but during lunch? This was about 1:15 p.m. [22 Jul 2004 17:50:21]
