Carnal Apetite
Alfredo's "carne asada burrito" (Spanish for "Spear of Meat God") is quite possibly the best menu item in town for the carnally inclined Mexican food aficionado. Also, the Alfredo's on the North side (Pine) offers a scenic overlook from its main window of several abandoned machine shops, a sight which facilitates your contemplation of the transience of human hopes and ambitions as you engorge your belly with steaming meat and luscious guacamole.    [24 Mar 2004 01:20:50]

Asada Manna!
It was like a parting of the Red Sea on Pike Street for me. Driving down the street, I was instinctivly drawn to the yellow menu board and red writing.

Having grown up in San Diego, you learn to love the local taco shop. I will say this, Alfredo's is just as good if not better than 99% of the taco shops I have been in over the years.

I highly recommend any novice to start with Carne Asada Burritos and then go from there. A prefect bleck of carne asada, pico de gallo and guacamole. This is NOT guisado! Carne Asada. Manna from Heaven!

To be fair on Ambiance, you do not go to a place like Alfredo's for the fine dining touches. It is very clean inside, but it is a basic dining room.
