Horrible Service and rude waitress
My fiance' and I have always had a tradition of going to Busy Bee for early breakfast on weekends--always the one in Alvin. We have some memorable moments at this particular restaurant--as you can see, we named our e-mail account after the restaurant and the day we met--since the day we met, we went on our first breakfast adventure to Busy Bee in Alvin. Many times we have had the same waitress who is never particulary someone we can brag about, but we've always written it off as she was just having a bad night or didn't like her job. We still continued to eat at this restaurant since there are really no other choices of 24 hour restaurants in Alvin. However, this last time we went, we made a vow to each other to never return. On The early morning of Friday, April 9th, myself and my fiance' dined for breakfast at Busy Bee Cafe in Alvin, TX. The waitress took our orders and brought us our food and never returned to fill a drink or to check to see if our order was correct. The order was not correct and our drinks were never re-filled. This was nothing new to us, but instead of getting up to go to the counter to ask for service like we've done in the past, we just grinned and beared it. Upon leaving, I told the waitress, Anita, that we were unsatisfied and asked her if there was some reason she never checked on us or any other customers in the smoking room--I asked her if she hated her job or us. She then became rude with me at which point I asked for a manager. She exclaimed, "I am the manager". When I told her I had a hard time believing a manager would treat a customer like an animal, she then went to the back and brought one of her cooks to the front to pose as a manager. I told the rude waitress it was wrong the way she was treating us and it was wrong to lie. She gave me a comment card and told me to "whine on paper". When I asked for her name, she refused to give it to me. I asked some of the cooks in the back her name and none of them would give it to me. I told her I could not fill out the comment card appropriately without her name and at that point she told me she was calling the police to report that I refused to pay the bill. I explained that I would pay the bill as soon as she gave me her name. To make a long story short, two Alvin Police officers came to the restaurant to settle the matter. She told them they needed to arrest me for not paying the bill. I explained the incident to the officers and told them all I wanted was her name so I could complete the comment card correctly. I didn't even ask for an adjustment on my bill like I should have since our order was incomplete and missing some requested items. One of the officers told me he would never eat at Busy Bee for these very reasons: rude staff members and mediocre food. He understood where I was coming from and asked me to just pay the bill and leave the restaurant since she was not being cooperative. This is what I did with a promise to myself that I would never step foot on this property again. It is sad that one waitress can turn customers away from dining at a restaurant that they previously looked forward to going to.    [13 Apr 2004 10:51:48]

Fabulous Food and Nice People
I happened to be there per my friend's recommendation during my business down there. Surely wasn't disappointed to say the least. Typical southern comfort food with a homemade taste is what I craved for and it opens 24 hr is a huge plus for me, or anyone who needs a real midnight snack. The price was unbelievable good. See ya there in my next biz trip.    [26 Oct 2006 14:08:41]

A typical diner restaurant
While that is a ridiculous thing to have happened to busybeesp11, I have to state that the staff of the Busy Bee has always treated me with decency and respect.

In fact, the last time I came in, my waitress actually had the foresight to leave a pitcher of soda for my friend, both of us being big thirsty guys.

Now on the other hand, I've had times when my order was wrong, but I never got the fight busybeesep11 seems to have.

I dont mean to attack you, but as a person who's worked in the food service industry, I can't help but wonder if your rudeness had anything to do to it. Take and put yourself in her shoes. You are asked, "Do you hate me or your job?", and you are a waitress. You emotions and feelings aren't anyone's business. You've invaded the 4th dimension here, crossing the line of professionality and getting into people's personal lives. You can never get positive results from antagonizing waitresses.

Now the way she acted was unacceptable and she should be fired, no arguement, but the food service industry can make people crack when they have to suffer the insults of their patronage day in and day out. No one likes being talked down to. And if you're always civil and polite, it's impossible for them to write you off.

Just a note: In the picture you paint, you attacked her first.

Busy Bee is and will always be my choice for diner style food.    [30 Mar 2007 21:29:28]

busybeesep11.....
I have lived in Alvin for 23 years, and remember when Busy Bee was still "Chunky's". I worked at Busy Bee in Alvin 3 different times between graduation and my 30's. I know Anita, and I know Liana (the cook she brought out). Anita is rude, crude, and most of the time she's socially unacceptable. However, most of the time she does her job, so that someone might wonder whether she was reading their mind. She tends to anticipate someone's needs before they can voice them, and her "regulars" (more than 3/4 of the town), swear by her unfaltering service; even if she's cussing and griping the whole time, she gets it right. Now, this is unacceptable in a restaurant designed to attract tourism and the income associated with high-volume tourism, but this is not Busy Bee's style. They make their livings off the resident "Alvin-ites" who frequent their establishment, and know them well. Most of their clientele are just as caught up in the over-dramatized "soap-opera" which IS Alvin, TX, they probably know just exactly which scandal in town has her cussing and griping while she's working, and they are probably egging her on as they smoke, eat and chat with their neighbors and cohorts. So, while there is no excuse for her treatment of you, (and believe me I am not defending her in any way), please don't take it personally, she probably does not even remember you. -(and if she does, it's only to "gripe" about the lady who once asked her if she hated her or the job). It's neither of these things if you ask me... it's the town, and the way things have always been in Alvin, and probably always will be... sadly...    [04 Jul 2007 17:52:19]
