Delightful suprise for the small town The dishes here are extraordinary. I work in Houston and often dine with clients at highly rated restaurants. It is a pleasure to finally get the same in my own home town. The presentation of the dishes is always lovely. The sauces and personal touches are always unexpected and welcomed. Better to have a reservation, small wine selection, but nice. I wish they had nicer wine glasses, I really enjoy drinking from a thinner, lighter glass. Otherwise, the service is great in this quaint little kitchen. You almost feel as though you were personally invited.
Desserts were just ok. But Italians were never really known for their desserts anyway! [20 Mar 2003 08:45:55]

The best Italian food in Brazoria County I have dined at Giovanni's on many occasions. The atmosphere is great! Authentic Italian food. I have recommended this restaurant to everyone I know. My favorite dish is the Portabello mushrooms with chicken in alfredo sauce, a ceasar salad, with a glass of red wine. [26 Sep 2003 20:41:04]

Outstanding! Every aspect of this hidden treasure is wonderful! Our reservation went smoothly..set at a nice table! Drink delivered within a reasonable time (never an empty glass). The salads come dressed perfectly and the entrees were amazing. A little on the LARGE side but i guess it's better for them to be too large than too small!
This is a MUST...oh yeah, definetely make a reservation! [06 Jun 2006 18:56:47]

Homestyle Italian Cooking at its Best! I love this restaurant. I visit a lot of places and have experienced many different restaurants. This is one of my favorites. Giovanni's is consistently great, the atmosphere pleasant and the service is top-notch. The food is very authentic and the servings are large. [14 May 2007 17:11:37]

Amazing Place We are regular, loyal customers. We just can't seem to get enough. There is a group of 6 of us that go every other Wednesday and we have been exploring the menu. I must say, everything we have ordered has just been wonderful. It doesn't matter what you order, it will be delicious. Be sure to make reservations and try the Italian Margarita. horrible food horrible service We stopped here on a Thursday night, we were on our way to Corpus and there were a lot of cars in the parking lot. I just want to know WHY??????
We had to wait - there is nowhere to wait but a little bar which said 'reserved' on it...so we stood around.
Then we got our table - took about 10 minutes to get menus, then 20 more minutes to get our soup/salad. The bread was QUITE greasy - but we were starving and asked for more - we never got it.
After about an hour I asked our waitress to please check on our meals - we had to grab her as she wasn't into service that night. Our food finally arrived, I had some Mediterraneon pomodoro pasta thing - it was FLOATING in orange grease. My partner's asparagus pasta dish was equally greasy. So, we waited over an hour for really crummy food and even worse service, if that is possible.
I too work and live in Houston - we are used to good quality food. Heck, I can even throw something together at home in about 15 min. that is much better than our food last night. We will NEVER stop there again. Be warned!!!!! [09 Nov 2007 12:37:58]

Cold Food and Poor Service After several visits to this restaurant, our last visit on 4/11/08 will be our final. The service and food were not acceptable.
After 15 minutes our drink orders were taken (water). Bread received about another 10 minutes later, and not well baked. Our meals were delivered about 30 minutes later. The tall brunette server immediately asked how it was, which we weren't sure as it had just arrived. A few bites into the meals and we noticed the meals weren't cooked thoroughly and were cold in the middle. We consumed some more during the wait for our server. We didn't see her again until I tried to find her, but finally found the manager, Tiffany. I explained the situation and we were offered free dessert. We didn't care for desert, but wanted either the meal replaced / re-prepared or for the items to be removed from the bill. The server was obviously perturbed and was borderline hostile since we were speaking with the manager on duty.
I have never had a server throw the check folio on the table / at me before. We were expected to the pay the bill without any adjustment. $32.48 for over 1 1/2 hours and not even a meal.
I will continue to speak of this situation to others as there was a complete lack of professionalism on their part. I would have like to have skipped out on the bill (never have) as we didn't get what we ordered, but obviously Giovanni's needs the money. [24 Apr 2008 01:38:01]
