Ok, but Doesn't Live Up to its Reputation!
The Red Rooster in Anthony is a decent place with about 15 tables. Service is the usual Southwest friendly but not professional. We had no follow-up from the waitress. The food is decent, but nothing to write home about. I was told they had the world's best "huevos rancheros." Its ok, but that claim certainly must be an exaggeration. The chile relleno that came with it was good, but I did not care for the red so-called "Spanish sauce" they put on it. The omelettes were pretty good and the hash browns and toast ok. Ok for neighborhood fare, but not a place to go out of your way for. I am giving the Rooster three stars, but 2 1/2 is probably more accurate. You can enjoy a place like this if the food is really exceptional...but alas, it wasn't!    [26 Apr 2006 23:26:43]
