It took 40 minutes to receive our food. In the meantime every table in the room became occupied. It is very noisy as there is no carpet on the floor to absorb the conversations. The meal was excellent and a 9" pizza was more than enough - took half of it home. Also their coffee is delicious. It appeared the waitresses were somewhat confused and running back and forth and not sure where to place the food that customers had ordered. When I was ready to leave I had to tell them what I ordered and then they found my written order for me to pay. It was Friday (9 Nov 07)about 5:50 when we arrived. Next time we will go earlier to have a meal. We were not told about the specials and not asked if we wanted to see the wine/drink menu. I'm sure everything they serve is excellent as the waitress told me that they are extremely busy on Friday and Sat. [09 Nov 2007 22:49:51] A Bandera Favorite! Since my first experience at the Grotto Grill, I've been determined to eat there at every opportunity as I see it as a fleeting moment rather than a permanent thing. The Chef, Jason Boyd is a true food artist with a natural touch that makes for a superb dining experience at every meal. Boyd is alone in the kitchen and everything is prepared and served fresh when ordered. This can account for the long waits but it's all worth it. The staff issues will always be there as the town can't boast of a huge labor pool but Bridgett, the principal waitress now has a semblance of controll over the dining room. The wines are good and reasonably priced and there will always be a darkly humorous air in the music and decor. Jason is a chef for true foodies. The service is a little on the slow side, but everything is worth the wait - think European dining and have a bottle of wine. Late diners should call ahead and ask them to save specific entrees/specials. The Grotto does take credit cards. The clientel is a true mix of old and new Bandera, the Cowboy Capital of the World [20 Aug 2008 18:43:42] Great Food Great At Lunch.
