Good food, good value It's incomprehensible to me how a city as small as Boerne can have so many Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants in business here.
You will not be disappointed at Los Encinos. The portions are generous, the food is tasty and the price will appeal to your wallet. The menu is standard Tex-Mex, with nothing particularly unusual or inventive. Located in a strip mall, it lacks the ambience of other places in town, but as a quick lunch stop it will satisfy, but not thrill. The restaurant is nice and clean and service is friendly and fast.
As a side rant, I do miss the Mekong restaurant that used to be at this location. I guess Vietnamese food didn't go over so well here in Boerne, as we see Mexican places monopolize the landscape. I was heartbroken to learn that both El Caribe and Do Brasilia, two of my favorite haunts in San Antonio, had both been replaced by Mexican restaurants. I like variety, and it's sad to see it leave the area. [31 Jan 2006 13:48:44]
