Alamo Village Burgers Can't Be Beat! I like to go to out-of-the-way places to eat. Alamo Village is just such a place. Seven miles north of Brackettville on F.M. 674, or 30 miles east of Del Rio off Highway 90, the Alamo Village cantina restaurant is part of a massive movie set originally built by John Wayne for his movie THE ALAMO. I have eaten there several times and everything was excellent. but their burgers can't be beat. They're big, they're 100 percent beef and they are filling.
You order your food at a century-old bar, then a waitress befitting dressed in the Old West style brings you your meal. In the summer, while you eat, you can be entertained by a mix of country and cowboy music performed onstage inside the cantina. That's followed by an Old West gunfight out on Alamo Village's front street.
Also not to be missed is AV's "made from scratch" Mexican food and Old fashioned, real ice cream milk shakes. It's worth the drive to spend a day enjoying Alamo Village, especially their food. [26 Nov 2001 12:01:36]
