WOW!
I stumbled on Woody's during a business
trip drive from Houston up to Dallas. I
always visit Texas with the full under-
standing that everything is bigger (and
better?) in Texas, but was unprepared
for this place. The meat and cheese
counter in the store ought to be put on
a list of National Monuments. The smell
of that cooker permeating the parking
lot provides what we here in NC call
"am-bi-ance". The personnel are friend-
ly and helpful (the Texas character, no
doubt). Who woulda thunk that a short
gas / pit stop could turn into a truly
memorable experience? Thanks, folks at
Woody's, for making the junket so much
fun. I loved the smoked cheddar, but it
did not last all the way to Dallas. I
only wish I had bought more stuff. Not
knowing when I will get back, however,
you can bet you will stay in my notes

Woody's meat is "slammin". i would travel to Centerville anytime to shop at Woody's for their meats, sandwiches, candies, salad dressings, nuts, syrups, etc.,etc.etc.!!!!!!!!!    [06 Apr 2004 09:44:16]

I love this place. It has the best, largest smoked pork chop I've ever seen or eaten. When we go there, we like to try several different meats. I also like the smoked pepperd bacon. It gives boiled vegetables the best taste.

Stopped For Lunch with my daughters.
Met a wonderful man, named Gerry, he took us out and we picked out our steak and let me tell you it was so good, you people in Houston can keep Saltgrass and Steak and Ale. Woodys is

BBQ good...but
I was amazed at the full service, complete line of meats,cheese, and homemade jerky. I was good eating and a friendly atmosphere. The establishment is very clean. Not as good as another place close by.    [16 Aug 2004 18:32:41]

Rude, crude and unacceptable
Woody's has always been a place my family liked to stop. Their store really has an amazing variety of products, sauces, meats, all kinds of things with their private label. Most of it is over priced but sometimes there's bargains with markdowns. Today, however, I drove almost forty miles out of the way to stop in, pick up a few things I liked and get some information so I could write a review. I am a travel writer. I took some shots of their products, something I usually do, and usually the pics are just to remind me what is there so I can write a good review. I was accosted by not one but two employees who were beyond rude, demanding I not take pictures. For a minute I thought they might demand film or something.

First of all, I fail to see why someone taking a few pictures of the stuff they sell could make any difference. Like their products are secret or something? Or are they so money-hungry they want to profit from any exposure of their stuff? Who knows. But even if there is a reason, no matter how stupid, it was not necessary to confront me like a criminal and tell me I'd be "thrown out of the store" if I took pictures. Give me a break, people. Nobody's product is worth that.

I was prepared to write a generous review. Now I will never recommend them and encourage anyone else never to stop in. It's a sort'f interesting place and the food is ok but it's not worth being accosted or the rude attitude of the staff.    [16 Sep 2006 23:07:02]
