EXCELLENT FOOD/ ATMOSPHERE
I RECENTLY FOUND THIS OUT OF THE WAY RESTAURANT ON MY WAY TO HOUSTON, FROM LUBBOCK. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST CATFISH I HAVE EVER EATEN ANYWHERE! I HAD THE PLEASURE TO MEET THE OWNERS (J.C. & KATIE COOK) AND WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THEIR CORDIAL ATTITUDE, SOME OF THE NICEST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER MET. THE RESTAURANT IS LOCATED MILES AWAY FROM ANYTHING, OF THE SIDE OF HIGHWAY 36. I THINK THE BUILDING PROBABLY HOLDS 200-250 PEOPLE AND WAS PACKED WITH CUSTOMERS WAITING IN LINE OUTSIDE TO GET IN, WITH GOOD REASON. LIKE I SAID BEFORE, THE CATFISH IS THE BEST I HAVE EATEN ANYWHERE, THEY ALSO HAVE STEAK AND VARIOUS OTHER ITEMS ON THE MENU. I WOULD DEFINATELY RECOMMEND STOPPING BY THE NEXT TIME YOU ARE GOING IN THAT DIRECTION. COOK'S IS LOCATED 16 MILES WEST OF COMANCHE, TX ON HIGHWAY 36 OR 11 MILES EAST OF RISING STAR ON HIGHWAY 36.    [30 Oct 2003 16:05:39]

VERY GOOD FOOD
This place is not very fancy at all, but has VERY good catfish buffet. I like to go there at least twice a month with my family to eat. The atmoshere is very homey, just like being out with frieds.    [15 Feb 2004 17:43:57]

AMAZING!! I got an all you can eat rib-eye(yeah, your heard it) for like 11 bucks, so GOOD. Fish was amazing too. Building needs some help, but the food overrides it.    [14 Mar 2005 21:02:44]

Cook's Has Character
A recent visit to Cook's reminded me that they don't take credit/debit cards and I had forgotten my checkbook. Not to worry. The cheerful young lady at the register told me to simply mail them a check and enjoy our meal (group of 5). Things are definitely different in the country but this even stunned a country boy like me!

So the moral of this story is that Cook's is not only a great eating place - they are fine people to boot!    [02 May 2006 11:09:20]
