Nice atmosphere, mediocre food and service.
I think Cafe Portobello had recently changed My husband met me there for dinner and no one offered me a menu or anything other than water until he arrived. I didn't feel exactly welcome. We ordered Bruschetta as an appetizer and the garlic was absolutely overpowering, and I LOVE garlic. It was disgusting, actually. The salad dressing was bottled French and not so great. I had penne with eggplant... it was all right, not exciting.
The menu is your basic generic Italian fare, with only one or two vegetarian options- nothing vegan whatsoever. Prices aren't bad and they do offer several multi-course options at fixed prices. BYOB. Live music on weekends.

Tasty
I have been to Portabellos multiple times and it is always tasty. The house dressing for the salad is delicious and the calamari is very good as well. The service is always nice and the atmosphere is really lovely. The main dishes are all really good, and it is good for families, dates, groups, friends, etc. All around good resturaunt    [25 Oct 2006 18:18:34]
